Chapter 42 - Chapter 41: No Adult Things

Unlike the others, Gemini and Fourth had retreated into their room earlier than usual. The noise from the hallway—the occasional laugh, the clink of glasses, the hum of conversations—was distant now, muffled behind the thick wooden door. Inside, the room was dim, painted orange by the last rays of the sun spilling through the balcony doors. The curtains danced gently with the breeze.

Gemini lay sprawled on the bed, arms folded behind his head, eyes half-closed as he stared up at the ceiling. Fourth sat at the foot of the bed, knees drawn to his chest, gaze fixed somewhere outside the window.

"You think they're doing anything interesting right now?" Gemini asked lazily, the corners of his mouth tugging upward in a knowing grin. "You know… our brothers."

Fourth snorted without turning. "They're probably kissing or having sex already."

Gemini laughed, a soft, rumbling sound. "That's... possible, but maybe they're just enjoying the view. Taking it slow, you know?"

Fourth finally turned, brow raised, expression skeptical. "You really think that? With the way they were eyeing each other the entire trip?"

"Well, not *every* moment has to end in a hookup," Gemini replied, his voice teasing.

Fourth crawled up the bed a little, moving closer to Gemini's side, arms braced behind him. "Then what would *you* rather be doing right now?"

Gemini blinked at the question. "Right now?"

"Yeah," Fourth said, his tone quieter now. He looked at Gemini more closely. "Not what they're doing. What *we're* doing? Or should be doing."

Gemini tilted his head. "We're doing what we always do. Talking."

Fourth let out a frustrated sigh, sitting back on his heels. "That's the thing, Gemini. All we ever do is talk. Even when we're not in the same room, we're still talking. You call me, I call you. We text, and send each other memes, good mornings, and song lyrics—"

"I thought you liked that."

"I *do*," Fourth cut in, running a hand through his hair, "but… that's just it. I don't want this to be all we ever do. I don't want us to *only* talk."

Gemini pushed himself up onto his elbows, the humor fading from his face. "You're serious."

"Yeah. I'm serious."

For a second, they just stared at each other. The air in the room shifted and thickened, the easy comfort of their banter replaced by something heavier—an emotion waiting in the wings.

Then, in one smooth motion, Fourth moved.

Before Gemini could say another word, Fourth was on him, straddling his hips. His knees sank into the mattress on either side, grounding him. His palms pressed against Gemini's chest, firm but not forceful.

Gemini's breath caught. "Fourth—"

Gemini's heart was still racing from the Fourth's sudden movement, when he shifted onto his side, trying to play it cool. But the way Fourth was still looking at him — eyes slightly hooded, lips parted — made it hard to focus.

Then Fourth's gaze dropped to Gemini's mouth again, and he moved, ever so slightly closer.

Gemini blinked, suddenly feeling the weight of the moment press in again.

"What… what are you doing?" he asked, voice higher than he meant it to be.

Fourth leaned in, unbothered by the question, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "What we *should* be doing. What every other couple in this resort is probably already doing."

Gemini stared at him. "You mean… sleeping?"

That made the Fourth snort in frustration and throw his head back on the pillow.

"Not *sleeping*, GemGem!" he groaned.

Gemini burst into laughter, the sound echoing off the walls. "Oh my God, that was the most exasperated groan I've ever heard come out of a human being, FotFot."

"You're the most frustrating person I've ever tried to flirt with," Fourth muttered, though a smile betrayed his tone.

"You *call* this flirting?" Gemini wheezed. "You climbed on top of me like a cat staking a claim and now you're accusing me of being frustrating?"

"Because you *are*! You deflect with jokes, you always change the subject, and when I try to be serious—"

Before he could finish, Gemini moved fast.

In one swift motion, he reached for Fourth's waist, flipped him onto his back, and straddled him. Fourth let out a startled sound, his eyes going wide as Gemini reversed their positions without warning.

"Like this?" Gemini asked, breathless now, his grin playful but laced with something deeper. "Is *this* what you meant?"

Fourth blinked up at him, stunned for a second. "You are *ridiculous*."

But before he could say more, Gemini leaned down and kissed him.

It was slower than the first—longer, deeper. Less of a surprise and more of a promise.

Fourth melted into it immediately, hands finding Gemini's waist, his chest rising to meet the press of their bodies. His fingers gripped lightly, grounding them both as the kiss deepened. It wasn't rushed. It didn't need to be.

Gemini's hand slid along Fourth's cheek, his thumb brushing just under his jaw as he explored the feel of him—soft skin, warm breath, familiar and new all at once.

When he finally pulled back, their lips still barely touching, Gemini's voice was quieter. "Is that what you meant?"

Fourth's chest rose and fell beneath him, his lips parted but speechless for a beat.

"…Yeah," he finally said, voice hoarse. "That's *exactly* what I meant."

Gemini laughed again, softer this time, forehead resting against Fourth's. "Well, you could've just said so instead of threatening to seduce me with your dramatic sighs."

"I *did* say it. You just chose to laugh at me instead."

"Because you were being so serious," Gemini teased. "You're always so serious."

Fourth huffed. "And you're always trying to make everything into a joke."

Their lips met again, warmer now, more sure. The light outside the window had faded to a dim lavender, casting soft shadows around the room.

Gemini's fingers threaded into Fourth's hair, Fourth's hands pressing into Gemini's back, and the quiet, unspoken relief that came from finally being honest.

But just as Gemini's hand slipped under the hem of Fourth's shirt, someone began pounding on the door with the urgency of an apocalypse.

*BANG. BANG. BANG.*

"Hey!" came Dunk's voice, loud and teasing through the door. "Dinner! Stop being antisocial!"

Phuwin's voice followed right after, half-laughing, half-scolding. "And stop doing adult things! You're still the *kids* of the group!"

There was a long, frozen pause as Gemini and Fourth stared at each other, eyes wide, cheeks flushed, breath shallow.

Then, they both burst out laughing, the moment slipping away.
