The ordinary citizens of Oak had already heard about the conflict between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord. However, no one panicked since neither was a dark guild, and despite their personal grudges, they wouldn't involve civilians. Of course, even knowing that, people began to distance themselves from Phantom Lord once the explosions started.
As the minutes passed, civilians started to feel that something was wrong. This didn't seem like a simple scuffle between guilds—which were common—but something far more serious. Their suspicions were confirmed when the sky filled with Jose Porla's Phantom Soldiers, a clear sign that two Saint Wizards were about to clash. With that realization, the people began to evacuate at a faster rate.
What kind of battle would this be? No one knew, since wizards of that caliber rarely fought, and it was even rarer for them to fight someone of equal power. However, that question was answered almost immediately.
*BOOOOM*
A thunderous sound shook Oak Town. Thousands turned toward Phantom Lord's headquarters, only to see that an object was thrown through the city, destroying everything in its path until it crashed into a huge rock. The most shocking part was that, at that exact moment, Jose's shadow soldiers vanished.
Everyone asked themselves—if this was a fight between equally matched wizards, shouldn't it be cataclysmic? There's no way it ended just like that… right?
...
Both Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord halted their movements. No one could process what had just happened.
For Fairy Tail, the surprise was overwhelming. Weren't they just being cornered by a Saint Wizard? Weren't they on the verge of annihilation just moments ago? Why had the enemy suddenly disappeared?
"Hey! Where the hell were you?!" Gray was the first to snap out of his daze and shout accusingly.
"Yeah!" Natsu also yelled, prompting the rest of the guild to react.
Everyone's faces lit up with joy, relief, and hope—all because of the appearance of a young man Phantom Lord had only heard about through rumors.
Allen's gaze swept across everyone's faces. Some were injured, others exhausted and dirty, and a few had clearly reached their limit. None of this would have happened had he not left in the first place. Still, even knowing that, Allen showed no regret.
"I'm sorry, but Lucy and Mira were attacked in Magnolia. I know that because I gave them a pendant that lets me know that," Allen said, frowning slightly. "It was all a trap by Jose to lure us away from Magnolia…"
"Lucy?!" Levy raised her voice. "Why would they attack her?!"
"My sister?!" Elfman stepped forward quickly. "Is she okay?!"
Allen raised his hand to calm everyone. "Yes. They're fine…"
Upon hearing Allen's confirmation, Totomaru's face darkened. That meant Juvia had failed to capture Lucy Heartfilia. The rest of Phantom Lord tensed up as well—some even looked scared. Who the hell was this guy, and why was he so strong?!
"No way…" Totomaru took a step back. "Hey, Aria… this is bad…"
"So tragic!... But don't worry, Totomaru-kun... Master won't lose to something like this," Aria said before bursting into tears.
Erza stood up and walked over to Allen, placing her forehead against his chest before giving him a light punch. Erza wasn't as afraid of dying as she was of letting others die. She didn't want to relive a situation where she lacked the strength to protect her comrades.
"I'm sorry…" Allen understanding that, could only apologize.
"You don't have to apologize," Erza replied as she clenched her teeth.
She felt guilty and pathetic. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she was relieved to see him there—and that only proved she was still weak.
"Hate to interrupt," Cana said with a frown, "but this isn't the time for romance! The Master is hurt and we're still surrounded by enemy wizards!"
"…!"
Upon hearing Cana's words, Allen looked over at Makarov, who was being held by Macao. His greenish skin tone and overall condition were critical. In a blink, Allen appeared in front of Macao. He then examined Makarov…
"Finite Incantatem..."
Makarov's color returned to normal—but before anyone could celebrate, Allen's face darkened.
"Looks like his magic has been completely drained…"
[Allen, in this world a wizard's magic is tied to their life force, so this old man is in real danger… remember Lucifer's third condition…]
50% less armor—which, in this context, means a 50% chance that someone could die in a situation like this.
"Hey, can you help him?" Macao asked worriedly.
"Maybe… but not here."
If it were just wounds, a curse, or poison, Allen could handle it. However, Makarov was no longer under the effects of any active spell, and he wouldn't get better unless his magic power was restored. Allen had plenty of experience restoring the magic in ancient artifacts. Although he had not tried it in a human body.
But there was a problem… Jose Porla.
....
"BASTARD!"
Jose's scream echoed with a spectral resonance across the town. The sky darkened, and the clouds began to look like tormented ghosts. This terrifying sight brought a nervous smile to Phantom Lord's members, who were slowly regaining their will to fight.
The pressure of the Saint Wizard returned once more.
"What do we do?!" Levy asked, breathing heavily from her magical exertion.
"…" Erza frowned but didn't respond—waiting for something.
Allen looked toward where Jose was, then turned to Phantom Lord, focusing his attention on Aria. Aria instantly went on the defensive, sweat running down his cheek. With just a glance, Allen had figured out who had done this to Makarov—and he was not happy.
"Alzack and Bisca, you'll be in charge of protecting the Guild Master…"
Both of them jumped at his words. Without hesitation, Allen snapped his fingers, making Makarov appear right in front of Alzack, who caught him. Allen then teleported behind them and used "Apparition". He was back in less than a second.
"Warren"
"Yes, sir!" Warren was a simple-looking man with black hair combed with a spike upwards. He usually wore a green sweater. His magic allowed for telepathy and magical radar—great for support roles.
"Those two must be fire and air. Don't worry about water—but be careful with the last Element 4: Earth. If he's like other Earth wizards, he'll likely appear from underground…"
"…" Warren was stunned for a second.
"Understood?!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Natsu, Gray, Elfman—you three look like you're still in fighting condition. You're going after those two. One of them did that to the old man…" Allen's glare sent chills down Totomaru and Aria's spines. "Don't let them get away!"
"No choice now," Gray said, preparing to fight with a confident smirk. "Wasn't a fan of running away anyway…"
"Hey! I wanna fight alone!" Natsu yelled.
"Me too! Three against two isn't manly!" Elfman added.
"…" Allen's gaze turned cold, and both men immediately went pale.
"Just kidding…" Natsu said, hugging Elfman.
"Yeah, just a manly joke," Elfman added.
Gray, having already seen how terrifying Allen could be, simply shrugged.
"Cana, Levy, Laki…"
The three girls tensed up, ready for their orders. But instead, they were met with a smile.
"You fought well, but you're exhausted. Rest for a bit." Allen raised his hand. "Protego Sanctum."
A golden dome with four corner pillars appeared in the middle of the group, protecting most of the Fairy Tail members. Phantom Lord's wizards reacted immediately and launched attacks, but all their spells were absorbed by the magical sanctuary.
"I can still fight!" Cana said with frustration. She didn't want to be protected while others were out battling.
"Me too!" Levy added with conviction.
"I'm a wizard too, Allen-san!" Laki shouted, frustrated.
"Don't underestimate us!"
"We're not weak!"
Allen smiled as more and more wizards shouted the same thing. No one wanted to be protected—they came to fight, and that's what they wanted to do.
Allen shook his head. "Idiots. I'm not locking you up…"
Levy, who touched the wall of the sanctuary, noticed she could pass through it. Several Phantom Lord wizards saw that and assumed it only blocked ranged attacks, so they charged at them—cowards trying to take out the guild's weakest. But they smashed right into the golden barrier of Protego Sanctum.
"This defensive spell only lets allies through, while repelling enemies and absorbing attacks," Allen said, glancing sideways at the three girls. "I just wanted you to rest a bit and heal up before heading back out to fight…"
"I'm sorry…" Cana muttered, embarrassed for misjudging Allen's intentions.
"Me too…" Levy said, feeling guilty. Laki played with her fingers, also regretting her reaction.
"I'll leave the rest to you..." Allen turned toward the distance. As soon as he tried to take a step, Erza's hand stopped him.
"What will you do?" asked the red-haired girl, even though she already knew the answer.
Erza knew it... Allen wasn't invincible. She had seen him wounded, collapsed on the ground. She knew that, no matter how he looked like he had unlimited power, he did not.
"Erza..." Allen turned to her with a look of complete calm and a half-smile, his eyes reflecting in hers. "I'll defeat Jose Porla"
Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord gasped. It wasn't a promise, it wasn't confidence, it wasn't boasting—it was certainty. It was as if the words that left his mouth were an absolute fact. It didn't matter who Jose was. Even if he had Lucifer's help, the moment Allen spoke, it became an undeniable truth.
And everyone felt it equally…
Natsu looked at Allen and grinned. "No way I'm getting left behind..."
"I'll be just as strong as Ur—and then as strong as Allen!" Gray declared confidently.
It was as if Fairy Tail had been struck by a wave of willpower. The pain of losing Makarov had vanished, replaced by a fiery desire to fight.
Allen turned around to leave... but in that moment, Erza stepped forward, placing her hand on Allen's cheek to make him look back at her. Once their eyes met, she kissed him on the cheek.
Everyone who saw it was shocked. Even Allen didn't expect it.
"Erza, you..."
"It's just for good luck," she said, blushing. "Though I feel bad for Lucy... I don't regret it~"
Allen sighed. "You realize you just raised a death flag on my head, right?"
"Huh, really?!"
In a world where television and the internet were fantasy, people read a lot—so Erza was familiar with tragic romance stories where the protagonist dies after promising to return or kissing their beloved.
"I'm sorry!" Erza immediately stepped back—but Allen didn't let her. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close.
"Hey, you can't tease me without consequences..."
Without a hint of shame, Allen kissed Erza—this time on the lips. And it didn't stop there—the kiss was deep, and he slid his tongue in. Erza, a complete beginner, couldn't do anything and soon melted in his arms. The girls watching swallowed hard in disbelief. The men had gone pale—even Loke couldn't help but respect Allen.
Erza clung to Allen's clothes as her legs gave out. When Allen finally let her go, she collapsed into his chest for support.
"The next time you tease me... I'll devour you," Allen whispered.
"...!" Erza pushed away, stumbling back, her face red as her hair, eyes teary, and posture completely innocent. Everyone was shocked—Titania, the mighty warrior, now looked like a shy, embarrassed maiden.
"Then I leave this place to all of you..." Allen started walking, never looking back.
"..." Erza placed a hand over her chest as she watched his back. It brought everyone back to reality—Allen was going to face a Saint Wizard. That was the equivalent of fighting their own master, Makarov.
Levy felt a sharp pain in her chest, but seeing Erza, she couldn't be mad. Laki sighed. She had known from the start that she stood no chance against Mirajane, Lucy, or Erza, so she had already given up—though she still tried flirting with Allen. Cana shook her head, cursing Allen for being such a bastard. What the hell was he going to do now about Lucy and Mirajane?
Erza's breathing returned to normal, her chest felt warm, her mind calm, her spirit steady, her body filled with strength. She smiled because even in this desperate moment, she didn't feel a trace of fear.
"What are you all doing?!" Erza turned around, raising her voice. Everyone could see the fire in her eyes."Requip: The Knight!"
She soared into the air wearing her Heaven's Wheel Armor. Without hesitation, she attacked Phantom Lord's mages as if the previous scene had never happened.
Everyone began fighting fiercely. No one in Phantom Lord could believe it—the guild that had been on the verge of collapse had not only recovered… they had become even stronger!
....
Gwen – Be careful. That Jose guy might have a Lucifer particle...
"I know. Don't worry, Gwen..."
MJ – If you die, I'll die too, so unless you want to be a murderer, you better live!
Allen chuckled. "I couldn't forgive myself for killing you, so I guess I'll have to try hard..."
More similar messages appeared in the Chat, as everyone knew that under the current conditions, Allen ran a certain degree of risk in every fight.
Natasha – Allen...
"I know..."
The Lucifer particle was truly dangerous—it gave their enemies immense power. But Allen noticed something different in Jose compared to Deliora: Jose hadn't absorbed the particle into his body. Even so, Allen didn't let his guard down. He knew he wasn't just facing Jose... he was also facing Lucifer.
Allen stopped walking as a terrifying face formed in the clouds above.
"So this is why they call it Phantom Lord..."
"YOU BRAT! I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!"
The sky tore open, forming a black hole, and from it descended Jose Porla. He pointed his hand at Allen, forming a sphere of magic power.
"Dark Sphere!"
Allen vanished and appeared beside Jose in the sky. He kicked Jose's hand, sending the attack flying out of the city—its power was so massive that it erased an entire mountain.
"Damn you!"
Jose tried to attack, but it was too late. All he could see was Allen's fist before it struck his face.
"One-Man Army x50 Strength..."
With a thunderous boom that shook the city, Allen hit Jose so hard he was blasted out of Oak and into the mountainous region beyond.
"..." Allen became a trail of white smoke and followed him.
...
"Ahhh! Damn it!" Jose coughed up blood but stood up, raising two dark orbs and firing magic beams like cannons.
Allen dodged the blasts that tore through the sky, then accelerated, reaching Jose in an instant.
"Don't underestimate me! Shadow Drive!"
Jose cloaked himself in shadows and vanished. Allen wasn't surprised he could teleport—he continued his assault.
"One-Man Army x50 Speed..."
Allen vanished too... the battle climbed higher into the sky, with booms and impacts everywhere. From time to time, magic spheres fell from above, causing massive explosions. Allen fought back with wind magic, slicing the air with razor gusts. But Jose refused to let him win, moving just as fast.
"You don't get it?!" Jose mocked between attacks. "You can't win! I'm a Saint Wizard! I'm Jose Porla!"
"You say that, but didn't all this start because Master Makarov kicked your ass?" Allen smirked with disdain. "You're just a pathetic bitter wizard..."
Jose felt humiliated. That was his worst memory—even as a Saint Wizard, he had lost to Makarov. That loss made him hate Fairy Tail.
"Shut up, you brat! Phantom Soldiers!!!"
The sky filled with thousands of immortal specters. They had once been as strong as regular soldiers, but now Jose could empower each one to the level of elite mages. He didn't know why—but he felt like his power was limitless.
"DIE NOW!"
Like a scene out of an apocalyptic movie, the specters attacked Allen all at once, unleashing terrifying cries and howls.
"You still haven't realized?" Allen smiled, pulling out one of his keys, "Open..."
"A Celestial Spirit?! Haha! What can a puny spirit do against my army of specters?!" Jose laughed like a madman—only to freeze as a chain pierced his body.
Jose looked down at his chest—and then at his soldiers. They were all the same, paralyzed. Not dead—but unable to move.
"What a vulgar man... Master."
A red-haired woman with dangerous eyes hugged Allen from behind, staring coldly at Jose.
"W-what are you?!..."
"Oh, you can still talk? I guess you can't underestimate the power of Lucifer..."
Allen looked at Jose and made a decision.
"Great Spirit of the Apocalypse, Makima... finish him."
"Yes, my master~" Makima smiled, then raised her hand—hundreds of chains surged at Jose without mercy, piercing through his body.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHGGGGGG!!!"
Jose couldn't believe it. Without hesitation, without mercy—he had been killed by one of the fairies. No... this boy wasn't a fairy. He was a monster.
Jose fell from the sky lifeless...
Allen frowned. "Strangely enough... the fight had ended rather quickly."
*Badum*
"...!" Allen looked to the sky. Jose's spectral vortex had not vanished. "Damn it, you're not going to give me a single break, Lucifer?"
