Akita Prefecture.
"Phew, it's really cold."
In the cobblestone alley covered with snow on both sides, a young man walked briskly, and the breath he exhaled turned into white mist as soon as it left his mouth.
The young man's name is Tono Sato, 24 years old, a student.
He is a local of Sanzhong Town in Akita Prefecture.
"Speaking of which, it's already that time, huh?"
Indeed.
In another week, it will be New Year's Eve.
What is called New Year's Eve is actually New Year's Eve. The last moonless night at the end of the year is called "New Year's Eve."
Japan used to celebrate the Lunar New Year as well, but later switched to celebrating "New Year's Day" as the start of the new year according to the Gregorian calendar, which has caused the New Year's Eve term to no longer match the lunar phase. However, the term and traditions have still been preserved.
And in Akita Prefecture, a grand ceremonial event is held on New Year's Eve night.
