Chapter 76 - War in Legorio's Ghost Kingdom (4)

Cris turns to where the thorn hit him, and he immediately sees Light in the distance. Cris looks at his hand, wondering if it was really that child who hurt him.

He opens a small smile on her face and looks at Light.

The boy feels goosebumps up the back of his neck and butterflies in his stomach; he is completely terrified just with a single reaction. Until this moment, Light had never faced someone he thought was stronger, but that time has come.

Light then looks around and sees everyone killing each other. Blood spurting, screams of agony, heads chopped off. All of this makes the boy go weak on the knees and retreat backwards out of instinct.

Cris laughs at the boy's situation, who is completely shaken.

Light is in a cold sweat, his whole body is shaking, his eyes are wide, and his mind can only replay the horrible images he just saw.

Suddenly, a huge explosion noise occurs towards the west gate!

The noise makes Light come to his senses and regain his sanity.

This explosion was nothing less than the gigantic fireball created by the enemies, colliding with a huge, gigantic tree created by Rodic, on top of the wall.

While the fireball was being fed, Rodic focused all his mana on creating a tree large enough to protect the wall and gate.

When the fireball was released, a gigantic tree was created on top of the wall, and its roots grew down to the ground, protecting the gate.

The tree burns in flames after the fireball hits precisely; it probably won't last long. However, thanks to that noise, Light managed to wake up from his mental nightmare.

Light understands that if he wants to be the Supreme Mage, he will have to watch scenes like this constantly.

He finally understood that this is the work a mage needs to face. He can't let himself be shaken by things as he is.

Even though you remember these words, your body continues to tremble.

Light then retreats to an alley, to think more calmly and safely.

Cris doesn't seem to have cared much about. In his view, he was just a lost child.

Cris had already shown herself to be resilient, managing to withstand Light's best earth magic. That would mean that just using earth magic wouldn't be enough to win, Light thought.

Light would have to appeal to the forest magic and, if necessary, use thunder magic.

He wanted to save mana to use thunder magic in case something put his or William's life in danger, but perhaps he had to use this moment.

Light then decides, he will try to use forest magic at a medium distance, but if necessary, he will use thunder magic in hand-to-hand combat.

With this in mind, Light leaves the alley, this time more determined to finish off the enemy.

Approaching the place where the earth spike had been created, Light takes advantage of the hole in the ground to create a tree, which quickly grows and further destroys the surrounding ground with its roots extending violently in all directions.

The tree grows to approximately 5 meters (16.4ft). The enemy soldiers look at the large and strange tree that had suddenly formed; many of them just stood there looking, trying to understand who had done it.

Even the allied knights were confused, but soon, everyone realized that this was Light's work.

The enemies advance with their swords to kill the boy, but the roots act like tentacles and quickly trap them, intertwining with the opponents.

The branches that come out of the tree also trap some, but these are fragile and easy to break.

Quickly, what seemed to be an advance by the enemies, became a scenario where Legorio's soldiers had the advantage.

The opponents murmur and groan in pain due to the tightness of the roots.

And then, Cris gets off the horse, with a somewhat disgusted and angry expression. Finally, he noticed that this child was not a civilian, but a mage!

"You all are useless," he says as he observes the situation, seeing if he, at that distance, can be targeted by the roots. "They can't even handle a child..." He murmurs.

On the other side of the kingdom, at the southern gate, Saibur gently cuts through the allies. His sword is imbued with a stream of water that surrounds the sword's blade.

Yanma and William are relatively close together, with each attacking enemies and protecting their backs and blind spots.

William uses air magic to have greater speed and be able to cut more easily. Yanma does not use any magic, but he manages to perform well in combat in the same way, even better than William.

In a moment of rest, they manage to stay close, standing with their backs to each other, touching each other.

"I think you've noticed." Yanma slashes an approaching enemy. "The one over there in the blue clothes is Saibur." Yanma completes.

"Yes, I already noticed." William says as he looks around, keeping an eye out for any attacks.

"Apparently he has Water Magic, but we don't know if he has an ace up his sleeve." Yanma says. "Be careful with him."

"Understood." William says, and the two separate and attack the opponents who threaten them.

William, to date, has not murdered any enemy soldiers, as far as is known, but he has left fatal wounds. Still, he doesn't let himself be shaken.

Yanma, on the other hand, was familiar with the brutal scenes and had an already protected mind.

At the west gate, the Rodic tree burns hotly. Marco gets closer and closer to the gate.

"PREPARE ARROWS!!" Rodic shouts, and the remaining soldiers position themselves for the attack.

"SHOOT!" With all the remaining soldiers prepared, they fire the arrows at the enemy.

This time, it hit many more targets than previously, due to the distance that was being reduced every second.

Rodic realized that Marco would break through the gate regardless of what they did. The tree was already falling apart, and it was only a matter of time before it became useless, if it hadn't already become useless.

With this in mind, Rodic jumps from the wall into the kingdom, sliding down the wall.

Upon arriving at the bottom, he sees the knights positioned facing the gate, waiting for the impact.

However, this would be a wasted effort, as the enemies would destroy or break down the gate.

"Stay away from the gate!" Rodic warns the men. They don't seem to understand the instruction, but they comply.

It would be much more advantageous for Legorio to wait for the attack and prepare than to be caught by surprise.

"The enemy will destroy the gate, so prepare for combat!" He warns again.
