(At the top of the wall, Rodic walks by, checking out the archers while looking at the horizon)
Rodic, before going into battle, changed his mask; now he uses a mask made entirely of wood.
The sky becomes more orange, and the sun begins to set, when Rodic sees a tiny silhouette at the end of the horizon.
A silhouette of a man mounted on top of a horse, riding at intense speed.
"BLOW TRUMPETS!" Rodic realizes, it's the enemy army!
At that exact moment, archers who were assigned to this position raise their instruments and blow with all the air in their lungs.
The silhouettes begin to become more evident and in greater numbers, but Rodic notices something strange. The army appears to be much smaller than expected.
He looks to his left side and sees that Marco's troops have turned around and will head to the south gate. He looks the other way, and more men are heading for the north gate.
However, this doesn't scare Rodic, as it was an expected attack.
Light, who was downstairs, had already rushed to the north gate as soon as he heard the trumpets. All the knights had already drawn their weapons, and the strongest knights were holding the gate in case of an attempted overthrow by the enemies.
On top of the wall, Rodic sees the enemy army approaching, and sees that a man takes over in front of them. A man with a long, irregular mustache and black hair, long and flowing in the wind. Wearing a long black cape and, underneath, a white shirt. He wears brown pants and boots of the same color.
It's like the descriptions said, this is Marco Loifwi, Zakov's right-hand man!
"MEN, PREPARE ARROWS!" Rodic screams as soon as he notices him.
All archers raise their bows, almost in synchronization.
Archers imbue their arrows with their magic of dominance.
Those who possess Fire Magic, imbue it with flames; those who possess Wind Magic, imbue it with a charge of gale, which will be fired at high speed; and those who possess Earth Magic make the tip of the arrow larger by sharpening it with the earth.
Except for Water Mages, who don't have many alternatives to attack from long distances.
Marco's army approaches, and taking the lead, Rodic notices something strange...
Many of the knights are holding something in their hands, as if they were... magic staffs!
To make matters worse, conjured fireballs!
Before Rodic can take any action, the enemy mages fire their fireballs at the top of the wall, targeting the archers!
"SHOOT!!!" Rodic screams at the top of his lungs!
Almost instantly, the archers fire their arrows towards the enemies, but now it is too late.
As if it were a meteor shower, the fireballs hit the wall, causing huge explosions everywhere.
Some fireballs cross the wall and collide with buildings within the kingdom.
To Light and everyone on the ground, it looked like a fireball rain was happening in the sky. Light even slowed down his running to watch, bewildered, what was happening.
Archers being engulfed by flames, falling from the top of the wall and meeting their end on the ground, screaming, and despair are all things that Rodic witnesses at this moment. But he is experienced, and, above all, strong, and he doesn't let anything get him down.
A fireball the size of Rodic heads towards him. Without needing to despair, he just raises his hand and creates a wooden shield, robust, shiny and massive.
The fireball collides with the shield, but fails to even scratch the sturdy wood. A shield comparable to a high-quality metal shield.
Approximately an hour ago, Light and the others were still on the ground, except for Rodic, discussing the different possibilities that could arise during the war.
Light and William were at the west gate; Yanma had already moved to the south gate at that time.
There were some archers climbing the wall via the large stairs.
Light hadn't yet had a productive conversation with Rodic and that was why he started climbing the stairs to the wall. William started to go to the west gate to meet Yanma.
Rodic was looking at the horizon, arms crossed, as the archers arranged the catapults and the great crossbows.
When Light went up the stairs, he immediately felt the strong breeze across his body.
He then placed both feet on the ground of the immense wall that protected the kingdom. Inevitably, Light was amazed.
For a few seconds, Light just stood still, contemplating the landscape of green grass, interrupted by some isolated trees, and the dirt path, which had once been his first battlefield, when he defeated Yuri and recovered Foguinho.
He looked back and saw the kingdom from one end to the other. It was possible to see perfectly the entire area that the wall protected—truly a magnificent sight, which Light had never seen, not even in his old life.
Light realized he had lost focus and shook his head. Afterward, he started looking for Rodic in the surroundings and consequently found him in the same position he was in before.
With a small touch from Light, Rodic turned to him, waiting for the child to speak.
"Hmm..." Light hesitated for a moment. "Are we just supposed to worry about Marco?" He manages to let go of his doubts.
Rodic looked at him and was silent for a short moment. Some might think that Rodic did this to scare and intimidate people, but in reality, Rodic just has the strange habit of formulating the entire sentence in his mind before speaking.
"Probably not." He says. "Marco must have other henchmen that deserve attention." Rodic responds. "According to sources within Lightning Rift, it is likely that the two criminals known as Saibur and Cris are coming to battle." Light became a little more apprehensive, and the possibility of Legório losing flashed through his mind.
"They are strong?" Light asks.
"Well, you could say that Marco is their captain, since they are under his orders. So they would be like Marco's left and right arms, if you want to think of it that way." Light was a little more relieved with this answer.
They were still criminals who were stronger than anything Light had faced so far, but he was confident in his powers.
"By the way, will you be able to defeat Marco?" Light was turning to leave, but that question lingered in his mind before he headed downstairs.
"That will depend on what he's planning." Rodic says, looking into the boy's eyes.
Light inevitably became worried about Rodic, but he had it in his mind that everything would be fine if the Supreme Mage arrived in time.
"I think I know enough already."
Light then turns around and starts walking down a nearby staircase.
"I liked the mask." Light says as he turns to go down.
Rodic just glanced at the boy and looked straight ahead again.
Light then thought of the strategy of going to the north gate only when the trumpets sounded. This is so he won't be surprised by a surprise attack.
This way, he could ascertain the situation from afar and prepare a plan.
At the north gate, there was no commander known to Light, and this made the leadership of that gate more prone to failure. Perhaps it is for this reason that Yanma assigned Light to the north gate, to serve as an ace up his sleeve.
