Five months after this incident, winter arrived again, bringing freezing cold conditions once again.
I'm wearing thicker clothing to protect myself from the cold.
My magic training with William is more constant than ever, and we are evolving every day.
One day, I was returning from my training when a villager gave me some of his harvest.
They were potatoes, but they were still free.
The man who gave it to me was an old man who wore a gray bucket hat, and he was very friendly. His name was Alter.
When I returned home, I told my parents what had happened. They had been very happy that my efforts had paid off, even five months later.
Looks like I got a reward at the end of it all.
When dinner time came, we ate the potato I had gotten earlier. Dinner was very good, a seasoned baked potato stuffed with meat.
Two months later, New Year's Eve arrived, and a big party took place in the center of the village!
This same month I turned 2 years old, it doesn't even seem like I've been in this world that long...
I am practically fluent and have complete command of writing, unlike William who does not yet have proficiency in grammar, but he speaks very well.
Another event this month was my entry into the village nursery.
The daycare goes from 2 to 5 years old, which means I'll still need to stay there for another 3 years...
In the first days of school, I even tried to make friends with the children, but it was simply impossible...
They are very...children.
Well, most of them are 2 to 5 years old, so it's common for me to not be able to have a basic dialogue with them.
They cry easily, ask for things all the time, can't speak properly, fight over childish things...
The only one who is calmer is William. He does all the childish things, but he does them at a lesser intensity.
He must be an introvert or something...
The daycare center doesn't have many children. 16 in total.
And there, we learned the most basic things possible.
Saying "thank you", apologizing, learning the alphabet, drawing, etc.
Professor Bovary has to have a lot of patience to put up with this every day.
She apparently noticed that I'm more "different" than the other kids, so she lets me skip her classes to hang out outside the school.
Normally I read a book, but most of the time I reflect on what happened to me.
It's still something I can't explain.
Was it something planned by someone I ended up in this world, or was it simply chance?
Not only that, but the question I ask myself most is whether my mind is still the same.
I died at 19 in my past life, does that make me 21 years old mentally, or has my mind not yet reached the level necessary to mature?
Will I still be myself in 5 years, or will I have become a totally different person?
I confess that I am afraid of what I might become.
My goal so far is to become an Emerald Rank adventurer, but what if I change goals mid-journey?
It wouldn't be a problem to change goals, but I'm afraid of using my powers for evil.
I'm not some powerful being or anything, but I have an advantage compared to everyone else.
Not to mention that I have knowledge about things that people in this world wouldn't even imagine.
I don't know if I'm underestimating the capabilities of people in this world, but it's undeniable that my past life experience puts me one step ahead of anyone else.
I better stop thinking about these things before I go crazy...
