Chapter 9 - Mana Release

More and more, I am feeling the mana running through my body. Maybe she's already almost being fully released.

Today I woke up earlier than usual, I have a good feeling.

Opening the door and stepping outside, I see the sun rise in the distance, illuminating all the snow on the ground.

The day slowly begins to lighten; the sky turns a yellowish hue on its horizon, while the blue slowly gets lighter gradually.

The snow reflects the light, which goes toward my eyes. The light blinds me for an instant, and I close my eyes in reflex, but I get used to it quickly.

My body realizes how cold it is getting.

There's no thermometer in this world, so I can't tell how cold it is, but I'd say it's somewhere around -3 °C (26.6 °F).

The air coming out of my nostrils makes a kind of "water vapor smoke" when I exhale the air from my lungs.

Turning left, I head into my backyard.

There's a rug I use to keep from sitting in the icy snow.

Sitting down on the rug, I begin to concentrate.

During all this time that I've been training, my focus and concentration has gotten greater.

The "current of mana" I feel flowing through my body becomes more and more apparent; I can feel it more clearly than ever before.

When I arrived in this world, I decided I wanted to do things differently.

I feel like I'm making progress with each passing day, and that I can maintain a productive routine for long periods of time.

In fact, I realized that what I lacked was the motivation to start something.

I've heard people say that the hardest part is getting started, I always doubted that, but they were right.

When I set the goal of releasing my mana, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

In fact, the hardest thing was starting to have this meditation routine, but over time, this practice naturally became part of my day.

I wonder what I'm going to do after I've released my mana...

"Good morning..." I hear a youthful voice in front of me.

Opening my eyes, I see William.

His face is all crumpled; he must have slept crooked...

His eyes are also half open; clearly he just woke up.

"Good morning…" I say smiling.

William wears clothes pretty much the same as mine; the cold doesn't leave much room to look stylish when you're a few years old...

The trick is to wear as many clothes as possible so as not to die of hypothermia...

William sits next to me and starts releasing mana along with me.

Concentrating again, I can feel the flow of energy coursing through my body.

Insects in nature make a noise similar to cicadas which, oddly enough, makes me become more focused within.

The birds that pass over my head make me feel as if I am one with the whole world.

All the innate mana that is within my body begins to expand and connect with the environment.

The snow, the few strands of grass, the soft, cool wind that hits my face, all seem to be tuning in to the energy that flows within me.

All of a sudden, all that energy suddenly leaks out, as if it's burst!

I open my eyes quickly, and the surrounding snow is dispersed, causing a small amount of snow to dissipate into the air.

I look to the side, and William's mouth is wide open; it's the first time I've seen him express such a genuinely surprised reaction!

"Are you well?" he asks me.

If I'm fine?

It's hard to say...

"I guess so…" I reply.

"That was awesome!" William says with a smile on his face, excited.

"Y-Yeah... I think so."

Does this mean I released my mana?

Weird... I don't feel like anything has changed.

Closing my eyes, I try to focus on that inner energy I'm used to feeling.

Wait, what is this!?

The energy is no longer in my body...

The mana that I only felt in my body is now...everywhere!

In the air, on the ground, even on William!

I can feel the mana everywhere!

Opening my eyes, I stand up and look around.

Is that!

I no longer need to concentrate to feel!

I can witness the mana around me just by breathing and letting my heart beat!

It's as natural as blinking your eyes!

It's a funny feeling...

As if I had turned on a part of my brain that had been off, as if it had been there forever, but I had never noticed...

So this is mana

 It's kind of funny, hahahaha...

Why do I feel such great satisfaction?

That pleasurable feeling, the feeling of having accomplished a goal...

How long has it been since I felt this?

This must be the brain's reward system.

Unexpectedly, the front door of my house opens.

Richard and Hera leave with worried faces looking at me.

"What happened!?" Hera asks.

"Are you okay!?" Richard asks. "We heard a loud noise, and you weren't inside; did something happen!?" He speaks.
