Chapter 269 - Chapter 269

AN: If you like what you are reading, you can help by giving my novel Rating.

Before I started the fight scene, I cast one last word of Dragon Tongue power.

[Boundary] I said as I drew a circle mid-air, creating a shining golden ring that expanded and floated through the air to rest on the ground, encircling the four humanoid elements, and with a final pulse of golden light, it disappeared from sight. This was to act as the literal boundaries of the elements, or any of their ranged attacks would not hit the audience.

When all was set, I willed my elemental fighters to take their position, and for theatrics' sake, I clapped my hands and shouted [Begin!]

Immediately, all four figures sprang into action. [Water] shot a cutting jet of water at each of the other elements. [Earth] stomped the ground to raise a slab of stone to block the incoming water jet. [Fire] jumped and spun out of the way of the water jet while performing two spinning kicks that sent blades of fire at [Water]. And [Air] flew up, dodging the water jet while gathering a ball of air between its hands.

With their opening moves done, I carried on with the choreography as each element fought in the free-for-all.

Jets of water, gouts of fire, shards of rock, and blades of air. These and more were being flung around within the [Boundary]. Any projectile that did not hit an opponent or was not blocked dematerialized the moment it exceeded the [Boundary].

As I waved my hands like a conductor leading an orchestra, I found my play coming to the end of the first act. So with a sudden jerk of my hands (not that I actually needed to), I willed the first act to come to a close.

At my will, the aggression of the combatants rose to a crescendo. Blows were exchanged, damage was done, and regenerated. And as one, they all cast their own AOE attack while close to each other, the explosion of elements pushing the combat to the edge of the [Boundary] before coming to a halt.

And now, for the final act. As one, the four combatants manifested weapons made out of their own elements. [Water] took one of the floating orbs of water and extended it into a straight and slim double-edged jian.

[Earth] squatted and punched his hand into the ground, and pulled out a huge, great mace.

[Fire] flicked his arms out, shooting flames that did not leave his arms. Those flames soon receded to form a single-edged dao in each hand.

And lastly, [Air] gathered the winds in each hand, forming a war fan in each.

With a flick of my hand, they all took their stances, and with another flick, all hell broke loose within the [Boundary]. Elemental attacks went flying more forcefully than ever, followed shortly by the sounds of weapons clashing.

With every clash and unleashing of their power, the violence within the [Boundary] started having effects outside of the [Boundary]. Not because the elemental attacks escaped the [Boundary], but because of the impacts of the clashes that sent shockwaves through the hall.

As the fight carried on, I could not help but notice that all the flashy moves the combatants were making were highly impractical and flashy in the extreme. But then again, this was from a cartoon and meant to entertain, not make sense.

As the fight reached its peak, I played the final scene that I had edited in my mind and willed it to happen.

The combatants clashed, jumped back, and started charging their most powerful attack. And as they did so, their weapons took on an ethereal glow of power. Then, without my gesture, they charged and all four of them clashed in the middle, releasing a blinding light.

When the light died down, it revealed all their weapons locked in the middle. A second later, the weapons started crumbling, and when they crumbled and dispersed into the element they came from, the four combatants straightened up, performed a martial salute to each other, turned and bowed to the audience, bowed to King Brakkh'zhaarn, and lastly bowed to me before dissipating.

[This concludes my performance.] I said as I gave King Brakkh'zhaarn a bow.

As I raised my head, I was expecting some kind of response, but was met with silence. And as I looked around, I saw what I recognized as faces shocked into silence.

That silence carried on for an uncomfortable ten seconds before I thought it was too much and channeled some mana into Professor Sageira's scale to contact her at the speed of thought. {Is there something wrong? Why is everyone so silent and staring at me like I grew a second head… no pun intended for the hydra in the crowd.}

{I do not say this often when showing off skills in front of elders, many wyrmlings do so. But I think you may have overdone it.} she replied.

{How did I overdo it? Can't you do the same?} I asked.

{Yes, I can,} she said somewhat defensively, {but what you did, not many can. Especially someone who had been learning Draong Tongue magic for less than a year. The precision and coordination you displayed are only capable of someone who has trained for a century at least. A young adult wyrm should be able to control two of those elementals of yours if they are good, much less four of them.}

I sent her a mental chuckle. {I would use the term "control" very loosely for what I did.} I then mentally show her my process of how I "controlled" the four combatants. {It was choreographed, not controlled. If I actually took control in any real capacity, they would move around like they had brain damage.}

{You bloody cheat!} She jokingly sent me a mental snarl. {Keep that info to yourself. If I have anything to say about it, I think the elders are impressed. Get ready, I am going to get things moving again.}

Professor Sageira cleared her throat loud enough to snap the king and most of the elders out of their stupor.

[Hmm? Ah, yes! A most impressive display, young Luke. Most impressive indeed.] King Brakkh'zhaarn said, and most of the wyrms agreed.

But all the murmurs of agreement with King Brakkh'zhaarn's approval were interrupted by none other than that grumpy puritan, Gravaxthuur Zraughkath. [I refuse to believe this sham display of our sacred magic! I say he is cheating!]

Aw shit, here we go again.
