Each maiden held a lamb with pure black fleece in her arms.
These maidens in sheep-head masks had evidently rehearsed countless times beforehand.
After entering the square, they quickly found their designated positions, standing in a peculiar formation around the giant goat skull at the very center of the square.
They then knelt and began to chant in unison.
It sounded like an unknown ancient ballad, or perhaps some special prayer.
