Chapter 163 - Witch's Sanctuary

"Huh? You want us to liberate the witches?"

After Tino and Angie's forgiveness, Estoria came to Null with a proposition.

"After seeing Edmond in action, I was astounded and felt that if he and the rest of you guys were to take action, you could make a safe space for witches."

"You're telling me witches are in danger?! But you guys could summon something as powerful as demons!"

"It's a bit complicated, but yes. We are hunted down and tortured and killed publicly. After they found us inside the building we escaped from, I felt fear not just for myself, but for the others as well."

Null frowned, "I get it. Of course we'll help out."

He figured the least they could do was provide safety to the misfortunate if he was going to take Tino and Angie away with him on the journey.

To start, the crew turned the surrounding area into a habitable place with more crude houses for the witches to live in.

To top it off, Barter's Rule set up barbed fences around the sanctuary.

"With this, we have a rudimentary base. Next, we have to get over to the other witches and let them know they're safe."

And so, the crew received information on the whereabouts of the witch's hideouts and hidden meeting places.

With news of a sanctuary for the witches, the crew gathered most— if not all— of the witches hiding in the communities.

Before long, they led dozens of people through the communities drawing the attention of some of the people there.

"What is that?!"

"In the air! They're flying!"

"Monsters! The witches have summoned monsters!"

The monsters they were screaming about were the non-human members of the crew.

Even Klein, who resembled humans closely, was still ostracized by the community members as a monster.

While he and Z'oelo had not yet reached the Immortal stage, they were not too far off.

At this point, Klein could travel through the air with his manipulation and Z'oelo could do the same with the ki.

The two had not slacked at all during their times training on their home planets.

"What should we do about them," Klein asked.

"I say we beat them senseless," Z'oelo gave his thought.

Null stopped him from starting anything and gave his own idea, "You're the Devil, aren't you Mr. Zolial? Make them hesitate to think about trying to do anything regarding witches."

Recalling the attitude of the witch hunters, Edmond sighed, "I'll do what I can, but these people are a resolute bunch of bonafide witch haters."

He flew down and flashed his sharp teeth at the gathered community members.

"Listen up! I'm only going to say this once and then I will show no mercy! Leave the witches be from now on!"

As if predicting their response, Edmond gave one last crazed shout, "I swear on whatever God you worship I will kill every last one of you if you take my warning as anything but the truth!"

The extra words caught the people by surprise to say the least.

Without waiting for an answer, Edmond continued his flight followed by the others.

"Are you sure that was enough to ward them off," Null looked back at the still people.

"Who cares about those lunatics? Let's just focus on getting the witches to the encampment safely," Edmond said.

The rest of their trip went by without any problems.

"What is this?"

"It... it's a golden fence!"

"Is this really a safe place for witches?"

The witches were led to the main house that was Estoria's and noticed the crude buildings that were meant for them.

Estoria was there to greet the witches and gave them a sense of safety.

"Welcome to the Witch Sanctuary! We might not have the most advanced location, but from now on you're safe."

Some of the witches teared up at the warm welcome.

Even if they did not have most of their possessions, the guarantee of safety was much more preferred.

Before they settled down, Null eased their problem of no equipment and materials, "Once you guys are comfortable, we can go back for or even create new equipment for you."

The witches enthusiastically told him their requests as they desired to continue their craft without fear of being found out.

Null sent Edmond and Theef to fetch the items from the various locations and worked his way on getting more information about witchcraft from the witches.

He and Angie learned more together about witchcraft from the rudimentary to the complex.

Days passed as the witches settled in and gave lessons and crafted charms of protection and more just in case the fences would not hold against any dangerous witch hunters.

Null could copy the techniques and hexes that the witches utilized with the help of the Cosmic Structure, but for Angie things were different.

It was as if she already possessed a depth of knowledge that even the most experienced witches did not have.

All of this after learning even briefly about the different forms of witchcraft.

She was fully accustomed to all things witchy thanks to the spirit energy that purified her and reconstructed her brain and made her the perfect sponge to soak up everything.

From hexes and summoning to voodoo and charm making, Angie's diligence expanded her knowledge and capabilities when it came to her prowess.

She practiced her skills with Tino as she summoned more creatures and experimented on them.

Klein was interested in the uniqueness of the experiments and Theef was curious about Tino's physique, so the four of them stayed together most of the time.

Barter's Ruler spent his time ruminating the concept that Null had inadvertently exposed to him.

'My mind is set on greed, my body molded by the gold, but how do I align my soul with the same aspects?'

Souls were intricate things.

Little was known about them as some did not even consider them as actual things.

'Should I ask Null about this,' he thought, 'No. I received enough from him. To reach the next step I must do things on my own.'

The step from Transcendence to Enlightenment was infinitely harder than that of Immortal to Transcendence.

To transcend was to go beyond and surpass one's limits and become a higher being!

Edmond and Evangeline spent their time helping expand the buildings and harvest materials for the witches to use.

They were with immense potential to become Enlightened.

Edmond had mastered a Universal Rule alongside his unique physique and Evangeline's potent energy from the slain God filled her to the brim with power.

Outside of the crew and witch's knowledge, a group of witch hunters gathered after the stunned members frantically scrambled to inform them.
