Chapter 161 - Necessary Lesson

"You don't say," Tino said while getting up.

"I told you something like that was gonna happen," Klein sighed.

"You always know everything," Z'oelo punched him in the shoulder, "Yet it happens regardless."

Angie was still in shock about the whole matter as she never encountered such an emotional rollercoaster.

Tears streaked down Estoria's face while she stayed away from the commotion, 'Will I really have to get used to danger befalling my children like this?'

As much as she wished to take everything back and live peacefully, she knew the breadth of her children's ambition.

With the addition of their new friends, it was only a matter of time before they left her behind in pursuit of other things.

It had been a solitary life for both Tino and Angie, but they found it to be just what they needed before rejoining the fray of the outside world and beyond.

"Okay. Now that we've had our near fatal power grab, I think it's time we plan our next move," Null rallied the crew.

"Since you found us, does that mean the rest of our crew is out there like we were?"

Angie was hopeful after seeing Null thinking that if the others suffered from the same fate, then he could reunite them.

"You're right," Tino recalled the faces of his friends, "If you killed us, then when did the carnage end?"

Barter's Ruler stood up for Null, "It was truly an unfortunate event on my planet, but Null has received my pardon."

"Your planet?"

"What was your name again?"

"I never gave it..," Barter's Ruler saw a change in Tino and Angie's looks.

They picked up on the fact that he said, "...my planet..." and were both dumbfounded that they had not noticed his identity beforehand.

"It's true. I am Barter's Ruler," he tried giving a sympathetic look, "After Null— or rather, Void— was finished in the hotel, he struck the Wanderer's Market. I was furious to say the least, but seeing his genuine confusion after going toe to toe with me made me curious as to why the situation devolved as it did."

"Haha. I can't believe it," Tino slumped over, "He's a fucking mass murderer and you were just curious as to how it came to be that way."

Ego's brow line furrowed, "That's it. Null, let them see Void."

Null was hit hard by yet another retelling of his actions on Planet Barter.

Every time he relived the feeling, it was mortifying, but still he obliged, "Void, it's time you met some people."

The black ooze that comprised Void seeped out slowly and coalesced into the miniature version of Null.

Void— like Ego— had not changed their proportions like Null did as they found their size to be comfortable and unnecessary to change.

It was like looking at a pitch-black version of their killer and Tino and Angie just stared at him.

"Um, hello?"

His innocence got the better of him as he had no idea the hatred Tino's eyes or even the fear that he and Angie shared.

One move and he could pluck the souls from their bodies leaving them an empty shell of a person.

"Hello my ass!"

Tino sprayed a jet of blood from his fingers, covering Void in his enchanted blood.

Before he could utilize his blood in any way, the blood seeped into Void's body and was deconstructed into pure energy.

"What was that? Kinda tasty."

Tino only grew angrier as he heard the remark.

His only method of attack was rendered useless without his opponent even trying.

He should have took it as a sign of futility but held firm on his conviction.

The hidden traits of the demon and slime that went dormant were triggered as his anger grew only, they did not present themselves in the form of physical traits.

His veins glowed under his skin causing him to look especially dangerous.

"Stop it, Tino!"

Angie attempted to steer him away from his next action but was shoved aside with acute force.

"I won't stop until this bastard stops playing it innocent."

Now feeling the brunt of the direct anger, Void was forced to confront Tino, "I didn't do anything! Tell him, Null!"

While he did not want to watch as Void was verbally and physically attacked, Null knew that Tino had to vent his frustration to the proper source.

'This is for his own good,' was all he could think.

Seeing Null's head droop, Void grew saddened by the lack of backup.

"Ego?"

Seeing as Null was no good, Void turned to his only other helper.

"You took his soul. Remember the shiny colors? That was you and no one else."

"I think I remember! It took me a while, but I finally figured it out."

"Oh yeah? Did you figure it out all on your own? I'll make sure you remember me!"

Even Tino did not know what was currently happening to his enchanted blood, but he knew that something violent was emerging.

"I don't understand. I gave you what you wanted deep down. I sent you to a better place," Void pleaded.

'Screw what this freak says! It's time to release it!'

Tino extended both hands and released a torrent of blood both on Void and the floor beneath him.

His enchanted blood had the consuming and devouring natures of the demons and slimes, and they worked to sap essence from Void in a different manner than with Null.

Unlike direct transference, through the different essences derived from his summons, Tino's blood worked to extract essence from whatever was in contact with it.

Once the essence was collected, it was processed and turned into an easily digestible essence that lacked the distinct and more potent properties of what was targeted.

This method allowed Tino to absorb essence from beings far beyond his means of absorption.

And like that, instead of immediately getting rid of the blood, Void felt the pull of the enchanted blood sapping his strength while empowering Tino.

"I don't like this! What do you want from me?"

"I want you to experience the threat of death."

"But I don't wanna die! Please, somebody help me!"

The crew watched as Tino viciously had his way with Void but did nothing to help.

They knew that with great power came great responsibility and Void was still new to the world.

Only Angie felt compelled to step in when she finally had enough.

"Can't you see he's just a child Tino?! What is wrong with you?!'

"Aren't I a child as well?! He's the reason it's come to this!"

At this point, Void had collapsed on the floor in pain of losing his vital essence.

While it would not outright kill him, it still affected him at least a little bit.

Like Null and Edmond, Void had a substantial amount of essence in him, so absorbing it all would take Tino ages.

All he wanted was to send a message which would change the trajectory of Void's life.
