Chapter 112 - Knowledge of Planes

While the rest of the crew were tending to their own needs in the Wanderer's Market, Null sought out information about the whereabouts of the new plane that the last two flames resided in.

He had already gleamed some of what the plane might hold while lucid dream walking back when he was experiencing "enlightenment" on the ship.

As it turned out, that "enlightenment" was him fully experiencing the power of his Cosmic Authority with relative ease as it pervaded his body and soul before Ego came about and took over.

While he was dream walking, he was subtly able to view the lives of those tied to the flames.

Without Ego's interference, Null would have been aimlessly experiencing the full brunt of the power that might have resulted in Void's takeover like during the massacre on Planet Barter and the other times on Theef's ship.

It was common knowledge at this point that Void had a possessive personality that came with his unique vortex abilities.

One misstep and there goes your soul plucked from your very body, leaving only an empty shell of a person.

However, without the combination of the Cosmic Authority along with the vortex, Void could only exist under control of Null and his lessened abilities.

Still, Void was powerful enough to do miraculous things like purify the beast core inside of Klein.

Aside from being able to harness the vortex to absorb the ambient spirit energy, Void had many untapped powers at his disposal.

The main one being his ability to interact and manipulate souls.

One could ascertain that when those last survivors on Null's home planet met their fates to the treacherous chasms, they were affected by the remnant spirit of the Creator.

From their deaths, they each ended up in another realm full of fallen souls and allowed passage into new lives as their respective karma allowed.

This was another plane that existed outside of the one Null resided in and could only be visited by certain beings that held mysterious standings.

With all that being said, Null had much to learn about the Cosmic Authority and the things that came along with it.

While searching for places that divulged information, Null found a sign that pointed towards the intelligence sector of the market.

He saw businesses that sold maps of solar systems down to the planet and resources across the universe.

None of which were what he was looking for.

That was until he saw an obscure. relatively smaller building that had a sign reading, "Other Planes", that he immediately went into.

Upon seeing the interior of the store, Null saw many mannequin figures of different beings alongside tapestries similar to the star chart that the flames were located on.

'This has to be it!'

Null was enthused as he figured this place must be the key to finding out how to travel between planes and reunite with his long-lost people.

"Hello there, little one. How might I assist you?"

An old man with elongated ears and thick, white facial hair wheezed out some words of assistance.

"Hello. Might I ask if your business sells information on planes beyond this one. One that might be mapped out already."

The old man stroked his beard and paused for a moment for unknown reasons.

Then, he spoke up, "I have charts of many different planes, young man. I've dedicated my entire life to exposing the whereabouts of the hidden planes; the likelihood that I don't have what you're looking for is low."

"Can I see them then? I have to travel to another plane in order to find some lost souls that have relation to me."

The storekeeper was shocked at what the child before him was saying, 'With that sort of connection to such things as souls, this kid must be something to fear.'

"It would be quicker if you showed me the chart of your desired location. However, if you do not have such a thing I can bring some out for you to view."

"I do happen to know the chart," Null said while looking confused, "How should I show it to you?"

The old man seemed to be prepared for the situation and provided a writing utensil and parchment.

Null took them and immediately focused deeply to recall the image of the burning flames that existed on the star chart.

His hand swiftly moved to mark each point and soon he handed over the completed chart to the old man.

"Hmm. This is not familiar on first glimpse. Let me see what I have in the back," saying so, the old storekeeper left to fetch something.

'I wonder how he could collect such mysterious charts. Where do they even lead to?'

Null was intrigued by the charts around him and took it upon himself to try and memorize as much as he could.

They were different from the plane that held the two flames, but similar in some aspects.

By the time he had committed each to memory, the old man had came back carrying a rolled chart in his hand.

"It took me a while, but I finally found what you are looking for. It's an obscure plane that exists separated by our mortal plane— that is to say the plane we currently reside."

"Another example of a separate plane would be the spirit plane. I'm not sure if you're familiar with separate planes, but typically they require a certain trigger or passage into them."

After speaking as much about planes, Null was patiently taking it all in and trying to connect the dots with the information he already knew.

'So does that mean that to travel to the plane the two adults traveled to I have to first die to be able to reach it? If so, I'm shit out of luck.'

"What do you know about this particular plane?"

"Ah. This is one of the most dangerous places of all that I have researched. It contains two distinct planes in one that act together to form a closed system. One of them is full of ravenous demons and the other scheming angels."

"Demons and angels?"

"Yes. Two polar opposites under the control of two rival figures. What depths the two powers have reached in terms of power I have no clue, but you should know that they don't take kind to intruders in their lands."

'That sounds pretty serious. If I am to find both teachers and get them out of there safely, then I might have to go it alone.'

"Are there any ways to infiltrate the plane?"

The old man also seemed to expect this question, "Indeed there is. One way is to die with certain karmic values that send you into either of the planes. The only other way would be to find a way into the afterlife and pass through the designated gate."

"..."

Seeing Null's reaction, the old man chuckled and said, "Listen kid, I've seen lots in my day, but to travel planes you have to either sacrifice a lot or have some kind of ability to travel between planes."

"Either of which requires one to be an unshakable entity of considerable standing. The entities that guide the souls in the afterlife are just as malefic as the two God level threats of the Hallowed Planes."

Taking it all in, Null now knew that the two flames resided in the Hallowed Planes where beings deemed as Gods presided over all within them.

This meant that if at any point he was found out by them he would be instantly at their mercy and decisively screwed.

And that was all under the premise that he found out a way to reach the planes in the first place.

'One step at a time,' Null could only comfort himself.
