Chapter 145 - A Single Drop of Poison (144)

Standing tall, the guard confidently said, " Sir! This young lady was making an earnest attempt to gain access to the war meeting room, firmly claiming that you gave her permission. "

Lyam's sharp gaze flickered toward Starfania and Atlas before returning to the guard. With an exasperated shake of his head, he let out a measured sigh and stated, " She does have permission to be here because this lady is the new Dragon Savior. "

The weight of his words settled heavily between us, and she could sense the shifts in the guard's demeanor. The guard's eyebrows shot up, surprise evident on his face. He glanced from Lyam to Starfania, then back again, as if trying to digest the information.

"The new Dragon Savior?" he repeated, skepticism lacing his tone.

"Yes," Lyam replied, his voice steady and firm. "She has been chosen for this task. It is not a title that comes lightly."

Starfania stood tall, the magnitude of her role beginning to sink in. She could feel the air thickening with expectation. The guard, still processing, crossed his arms defensively, his stance shifting from challenge to curiosity.

"Very well," he finally said, though his eyes narrowed slightly. "What does that mean for us? For the kingdom?"

Lyam stepped forward, his expression fierce. "It means we must protect her at all costs. A Dragon Savior is not just a figure; she's a beacon of hope. We cannot afford to underestimate her abilities."

The guard hesitated, weighing the truth behind Lyam's conviction. Starfania could see the internal struggle in his eyes. She took a deep breath, ready to step into her role.

"I promise to do everything I can to fulfill this destiny," she declared, her voice steady. The guard uncrossed his arms slowly. "Then I suppose we have more to discuss. But know this: my trust is earned, not given."

Lyam turned to Starfania and said, " Follow me. "

Inside the town hall, an elaborate display showed case detail records of VulcanFire camps and outposts the Primara Nation already attacked. In the center of the room stood a model of Avalon and all the current nation. As she settled herself, Lyam turned towards Starfania, his expression tinged with curiosity. " Do you intend to merely listen, or will you contribute? "

Starfania nodded, signaling her intention to observe for now, and promptly stationed herself in the corner. Lyam, satisfied with her response, turned back to the table and said. " Excellent. Now, shall we wait for the others to arrive? "
