Bertha Marley sweetly nestled beside her, reached out, took a big, round offering orange, peeled it, pinched a piece of the fresh red flesh, and brought it to Ruth Upperton's lips, "Grandma, you eat first."
"Oh, my good child... so filial..."
Ruth Upperton praised her while opening her mouth and happily took a bite of the fruit.
Bertha Marley contentedly glanced at Isabella Lindsey, who was left aside, and teased nonchalantly, "Sister Isabella, why don't you sit down and join us? Do you want me to feed you?"
Before Isabella Lindsey could respond, Ruth Upperton impatiently interjected, "Bertha, why do you care about her? In this family, you can just pretend she doesn't exist."
"Huh?"
Bertha Marley feigned surprise and incredulity, "If we pretend she doesn't exist, why keep her in the house in the first place?"
