"Yes, we'll find time to visit you again. Remember to call if anything comes up."
Ella Lacey stood up with a smile, Cherline Lindsey followed behind her. The two had already reached the door when Laura, lying in bed, said with feigned sincerity, "I wouldn't dare trouble the family to come to the hospital again. I just hope to get better soon and reunite with you all at home."
"You will. Rest assured, we'll wait for you to return."
Ella Lacey reached out to close the room door for her. She and Cherline hadn't reached the elevator yet when Laura, seizing the opportunity, eagerly peeled a large pear for herself, munching loudly and gobbling it down.
