Laura pretended to lie there, motionless.
The resentment in her heart toward Cherline was like a raging wildfire, impossible to extinguish.
She had to come up with a way to deal with Cherline, to make her realize how formidable she could be!
"Cherline, what are you doing on the computer?" Laura forced herself to suppress her anger, her voice soft and cajoling, like a sweet younger sister.
"None of your business." Cherline replied indifferently.
"…" Laura rolled her eyes in frustration, this damned Cherline couldn't say a single nice word.
Too cold and distant!
If she won't say anything, fine—but to throw out a "none of your business"? Utterly infuriating!
Still, Laura didn't want to be brushed off so easily. Persisting like a clingy plaster, she pressed on, "Cherline, you have the computer to play with, but I'm just here, so bored."
"Are you bored? I can help turn on the TV for you."
