Gale Summer was pregnant, and it was Evone Thompson who found out the next day—not because Gale herself had told her, but because Evone guessed it after seeing Gale retching in the restroom.
"Gale, are you... pregnant?" Evone inquired speculatively.
Gale scooped up some cold water to wash her face before sighing and replying, "Yes."
There was no hiding it, and she hadn't planned on keeping it a secret because she wanted the child, and wanting a child was something you couldn't hide from your parents.
"Is it... Ricky Lewis's?" Evone guessed again.
Although it had been just over a month since her daughter divorced Romney Queens, she intuitively suspected the child was Ricky's, with no relation to Romney.
Gale nodded again and took a deep breath before saying, "Yes, the child is Ricky's. After I divorced Romney, I went to Washington for a week, and I stayed in Ricky's apartment for that week."
