Chapter 22 - The Trail Begins

Zeras sat down in the cacophony, a new emotion streaking through him as he watched both alien races and human groups interact.

The murmuring and noise were very loud, but they all stopped when three men in EIA uniforms mysteriously appeared on the dais.

The crowd went silent, quietly rising to their feet. It was more of an unofficial rule to stand up when one sees an EIA official.

One of the men, extremely muscular with dark hair and eyes, walked out of the trio as he arrived at the front edge of the dais.

His eyes held a shade of black that looked horrifying, and a scar ran across his face, crossing his left eye and ending at the right side of his cheek.

One thing was sure; he must be a veteran EIA Official.

"I believe we are all gathered here today for the entrance examination."

The man began, his voice booming so loudly that it reverberated continuously in the ears of about a thousand people.

"The entrance examination, or should I say the trial to join the EIA for this year, will take place in this tower, just behind me, the Dimensional Tower.

"Why is it called the Dimensional Tower, you may ask?"

"Because this tower is an interconnection of different Dimensions, recording their history."

He explained, total silence befalling.

"Upon entrance, you will be given a trial in one of its dimensions."

"Pass the trial, and you'll be qualified to join the EIA. The lucky ones amongst you might even get a special reward from the Tower itself."

"But fail, and you would have failed the EIA test, hence deserving and obtaining nothing."

The man said, pausing for a while as if to give them time to digest his words.

"If you're in doubt about whether the Tower will be partial and whether some missions might be harder than others, then you're wrong."

"The Tower is a good indicator of one's talent and will give you an equivalent test of that talent."

"That means an E-grade gene awakener will be given a trial at the peak of his talent, and a C-grade will also be given an equivalent trial at the peak of his talent."

"That means, even if you're only an E-grade, you can still pass the trial as it's just to the peak of your talent."

"If you have higher talent, then you just might be given a more difficult trial due to the higher peak of talent being higher, but that also means your reward from the tower will be undoubtedly higher..."

Zeras listened carefully, digesting every word, and from what he could gather, one thing was sure: he was fucked.

He had an SSS-grade Gene.

That is probably the greatest talent that could be found here, which meant he would be given the hardest trial among them.

But there was also a positive catch: His reward from the tower would be the greatest.

"You'll be awarded points based on how well you performed

"The better you perform, the higher your rank and the more points you can earn, which will be of immense help to you in the EIA."

"As for those with the top three ranks, they'll be given an extra reward by EIA itself."

"So, Aspirants, do your best in the trial. And when I say your best... I mean, do not fail."

"After all, if you indeed did your best, you cannot fail."

The man said, a smirk quietly curving up the corner of his lips.

"As for how long the trial will take, that is determined by the trial itself."

"But everyone, irrespective of their trial, will be evicted at the same time, and it will only be three days outside the tower, though years can go by in the trial itself."

'So the timeline is different as well.'

Zeras thought.

Years in the tower might be a day in reality, but all will be evicted in the next three days.

"The good news is that death is not an option in the trial."

"If you died in the trail, you'll only be evicted, but everything you feel is very real, so be extremely careful within and don't think you can't die and act stupidly."

"With all that said...Let the Trial Begin!"

The man said, and in the next instant, a wave of light emanated from the tower.

It shone on all the participants, making them all disappear at once, no doubt transported into it.

"How do you think the trial will go this year, Vardorf?"

One of the other EIA officials said to the man.

"I'm sure about 800 of them failing brutally," Vardorf said, uninterested.

"The EIA might have gone too far in its Trial this time." The man continued, but Vardorf shook his head, replying.

"I don't think so. This might indeed be the hardest trial in the EIA's history, but it's also the most rewarding."

"Besides, we can select only the best among the participants due to the tower conditions."

"Hopefully, we're shocked by the results."

The last among them, an EIA Official with blue skin, said as they turned to look at the huge monolith.

And so, the EIA trial successfully begun.
