Chapter 19 - Chapter 14: Logan's secret

Elfin, with her short-gun raised, used her intimidating presence to ward off the guards. The leader of the guards confronted her, questioning her actions. Undeterred, Elfin boldly responded, "I'm ready to blast anyone who dares to approach me." Her gun remained pointed directly at the guards' leader.

Recognizing Elfin's determination, the leader of the guards decided to negotiate. She calmly addressed Elfin, signaling her subordinates to lower their weapons. "Alright, young one, I hear you. Let's talk. Tell me what you want."

As the pretty lady opened the cell gate and approached me to untie me, Elfin turned her gaze towards us, ensuring my safety. But in a sudden and unexpected turn of events, a gunshot pierced the air. It was the guards' leader, who skillfully shot Elfin's gun from her hand. Without wasting a moment, she lunged towards Elfin, delivering a forceful blow to her neck. Elfin crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

The female guards swiftly took control, capturing both Elfin and me. They bound us together in the cell, ensuring that escape seemed impossible. To make matters worse, the leader now held the key, leaving us at their mercy.

Amma's POV: "Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I arrived at this breathtaking city," I thought to myself, taking in the sights. However, my excitement quickly turned to confusion as I noticed the aftermath of what appeared to be a recent attack. The streets were stained with fresh blood, yet the locals seemed unfazed, going about their business as if nothing had happened. It was as if they had grown accustomed to these unsettling events. "Perhaps this is a common occurrence in this town," I mused silently.

Eager to find some answers, I decided to seek refuge in the Sunset Bar, its bold sign beckoning me with a sense of familiarity. As I pushed open the door, the smell of alcohol and the sound of lively chatter filled the air. I couldn't help but wonder if this place held any clues to the mysteries that lay before me.

I gently walked into the dimly lit bar, the scent of alcohol and the low hum of conversation filling the air. My eyes fell upon a solitary figure, perched on a barstool, patiently awaiting the bartender's attention. Intrigued, I decided to join him, hoping for some company in this unfamiliar place.

As the bartender approached, balancing two bottles in her hands, she turned to me with a friendly smile and asked, "What can I get you?" Catching a glimpse of the man's drink being prepared, I replied with a touch of impatience, "Whiskey. Give me whiskey." I couldn't help but feel a sense of annoyance as the bartender's gaze lingered on me, her eyes filled with a mix of surprise and unease. Without uttering a word, she hurriedly scurried into a small room tucked away in the corner of the bar, leaving me perplexed and slightly unsettled.

Frustration welled up within me as I muttered under my breath, "Damn it, this town is just so weird." As I made a move to leave, the man seated next to me spoke up, his voice filled with curiosity. "Wow! What a nice costume you have there, pretty! Is this the costume you're going to wear to the upcoming show in three days?" Confusion washed over me as I glanced down at my ordinary attire. It then dawned on me that he wasn't referring to my clothes, but rather my leaf-shaped ears and short horns. Not wanting to reveal my true identity as an elf, I responded with a tinge of sadness, hoping to gather more information. "Oh yeah, you're right. I love my costume too. But unfortunately, I have no idea where the show is going to take place." The man burst into laughter, clearly amused by my words. "Wait, what? Hahaha! You talk like you're not from around here. Anyway, it wouldn't be right to leave a little girl like you clueless. Let me give you a flyer so you can catch up with the event." With a swift motion, he reached into his pocket and handed me a piece of paper, a glimmer of excitement flickering within me.

As I unfolded the crinkled paper, my eyes widened in disbelief. To my utmost astonishment, a vivid photograph of Jordan and a captivating young girl adorned the page. The bold words beneath the image sent chills down my spine - they were set to confront the formidable Zargo in a mere three days. Overwhelmed by curiosity, I turned to the mysterious man who had bestowed the paper upon me and inquired with a mix of intrigue and apprehension, "Pray tell, what transgression have they committed to warrant such a perilous encounter? And who exactly is this enigmatic figure known as Zargo?" My voice quivered with anticipation, desperate for answers. The man's laughter reverberated through the air, his eyes dancing with a mischievous glint. "Ah, my dear, it appears you are not of this realm. I shall grant you the answer to one of your queries," he taunted, drawing impossibly close until his breath tickled my ear. With a wicked grin, he whispered, "I am Zargo... Hahahaha." My gasp of shock echoed in the air as he gracefully retreated, leaving me bewildered and yearning for more information.

With a chilling laughter lingering in the air, a shroud of darkness engulfed the enigmatic man as he vanished from sight. Left in a state of unease and bewilderment, I couldn't help but question his motives. Why would he entrust me with his secret, seemingly untroubled by the possibility of it spreading? Something felt amiss, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Determined to uncover the truth, I left the bar and embarked on a daunting journey towards the destination indicated on the enigmatic piece of paper. Though the path ahead was long and treacherous, I knew that I had to traverse the night in order to arrive at my destination by morning. The anticipation and uncertainty fueled my every step as I ventured into the unknown.

Gina's POV: we trudged along for what felt like an eternity, until our weary eyes caught sight of a humble abode nestled on our path. "Hey guys, I'm beat. Let's rest here for a bit. It's the dead of night, and some shut-eye would do us good," Logan pleaded, his exhaustion palpable. The old woman nodded in agreement, but the memories of what Jordan and I experienced that night held me back. "You guys have no idea what lurks inside. This town is crawling with all sorts of monstrous creatures," I warned, my voice tinged with unease. Logan cut me off, insisting that my obsession with finding Jordan could wait until morning. "We'll have a better chance then. Let's rest up and continue our search tomorrow," he urged, dashing towards the house as thunder rumbled overhead. "Don't worry, Gina. We'll find him," the old woman reassured me, following Logan's lead. As Logan neared the house, an enormous serpent emerged, its massive form filling the entire structure. Shock gripped Logan as he let out a piercing scream, "Monster snake!" Frantically, he sprinted back towards us, the serpent in hot pursuit. With a swift strike of its head, the colossal creature sent Logan crashing to the ground. It slithered and encircled him, its intent unmistakable - to swallow him whole.

The little girl's small hands clung tightly to mine as we faced the terrifying monster snake. In a desperate attempt to save Logan, the old woman fired shot after shot, but the creature's skin remained impenetrable. Seeing Logan in agony, I couldn't bear it any longer. "Hey, stay here. I'm going to help Mommy, okay?" I whispered to the little girl, hoping to offer her some comfort. Her response shocked me to the core. "She killed Mommy," she said, her tiny finger pointing towards the old woman. Confusion clouded my mind as I tried to make sense of her words. How could the old woman be responsible when the snake was right there? Determined to uncover the truth, I reassured the little girl, "Don't worry, we'll find out what happened." With a surge of adrenaline, I sprinted towards the colossal monster snake, summoning my magical powers to create two identical clones of myself. As I ran, I uttered an enchanted incantation, conjuring a sharp sword to aid in our battle against the monstrous foe.

With a swift leap, my clone positioned itself at the center of the snake, freeing Logan from its grip with a powerful swing of the sword. Meanwhile, I soared towards the head of the creature, driving my own blade deep into its skull. The monstrous snake let out an agonizing cry as I commanded my clone to sever its head. The colossal beast crashed to the ground, blood splattering across my body. In that moment, Logan emerged from the snake's center, a smile spreading across his face. "Wow, looks like someone's been paying attention in her secret training with Master Shi Nacko," he remarked, admiration shining in his eyes.

"Wait, you knew!?" I exclaimed, my surprise evident in my voice. Logan shrugged casually and replied, "Oh, really? We're all having secret classes with Master Shi Nacko, don't you know?" Confusion filled my mind as I responded, "No, I don't. Master Shi Nacko specifically asked me not to share it with anyone. So, who told you?" Suddenly, Logan dropped a bombshell. "I knew about it because he's my dad," he revealed. My jaw dropped in shock. "Wait, what?!" I exclaimed, unable to comprehend the revelation. However, our conversation was interrupted by the insistent voice of the woman. "Come on, guys, we have to go," she urged, holding the hand of the little girl. We began walking, the rain pouring down upon us, adding to the sense of urgency and mystery that surrounded us.
