Chapter 7 - Deal with the Angel.

"Hopefully she doesn't throw a tantrum."

"Gosh did you see the two new maids."

I turned around to find the two startled maids that were just talking, freeze. Their lips open, which I could only assume was to continue their disrespect of me. The bitches weren't even quiet as they spoke.

The surprise of getting caught talking trash instead morphed into a disgusted shock as their eyes pin pointed to the pile of clothing that I laid besides me on floor.

After several seconds, I decided not wait on their response, instead I arched my brow initiating it. Or rather encouraging it. Feeling my temper rise. Goddess, I fucking hated these people. It was time for my own branding of what a heiress bitch snapped back with.

Noting how the annoyance flicker on each their face. Very much not hiding their dislike of me.

Their pinch expression saying more, the longer they looked back at me and the mess.

Clicking my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Today seemed like the prefect day for an lesson.

"Lisa, was it?" I asked coldly. Not bothering to hide my own disdain for the bitches.

Standing to attention, Lisa posture became stiffed. I could see the twitch of her jaw and how hard she was tryin to hide her anger.

All that seem to rile me up more for some reason. Most of my thought going to the fact that I had made no leeway with Daniel and I was now facing two individual that seemed to think I was some sort of push over.

I was going set everyone straight within Reeves' estate.

Either get in line.

Or get out my way.

The edge of my lips curled. Almost wanting to portray the feral smile that threaten to escape.

It was my fucking estate.

The two maids still trying to hold brave of their own opinion of me.

"Yes Miss?" Lisa finally asked. Making me want to snarl at the disrespect.

Yes I was a Miss, but she was talking down to me with just saying "Miss".

My title was my name. I'll be damn that I spoken to as if I was beneath them or as them. Not that I care about statues or titles. I fucking cared most about respect. A Mr.T moment resonating trough my veins. If I continued to allow them to disabuse the notion of my authority with just my name, it would allow them to continue in all the areas they have been doing so.

"Miss?" I stared at her. Watching her eyes start to widen. Realizing the mistake, but I saw it quickly be masked. Her mouth open several times to only hear the other maid speak in her defense.

"Miss Reeves."

"Shut it!" I cut in, promptly stopping her from continuing on. My eyes showing my displeasure.

The end of finger tips tingled, reminding me to restraint my self. For there sake. The angry turmoil inside of me was making it hard to control my magic.

I swallowed and breathed in to calm myself. Short of killing two malicious, but idiotic harmless maids wasn't something I needed at the moment.

"Tell me again your name." I snarled the last part. The maid mustering up what I assumes the last bit courage lifted her chin in defiance.

"My name is Ruth, Miss."

"Miss what Ruth," I sneered to only continue, not even bothering to let her answer. "Did I ask you?!" Watching her eyes widen and mouth open in shock and disbelief.

"Then I expect you to shut it in the future. Now Lisa? Remind me who is the owner of this mansion?"

I asked, with as much arrogance that I could muster. I had the right to do just that. Now the authority to make it happen at the moment was fucked.

Making a mental note to check in on my request to speak to the magistrate. The jerk was stalling. I presume it was to wait for Daniel's response.

"I thought so." Seeing that they both had their feathers ruffled.

Sharply turning I looked down at the pile of clothing I had gone through, snapping my fingers and pointing, "and clean this up."

Not bothering to look back at them or the mess, I instead turned to my bathroom, changing out of my bedtime attire.

Coming out the bathroom I was the least surprise to find the mess gone alongside the maids. Already aware that the pot I was stirring was going to start attracting the attention of some of the other members of Rowan clan.

Not that it matter, it was just a nuisance. Like a parasite that leached on to its victim, they were going to be harder to get rid of. I knew the maids that had just enter my chambers were also reporting back to said person.

Sighing, I pinched the bridge of my nose. Groaning at the headache I was starting to develop. I seriously, had to figure out how to get control of my estate as soon as possible. This was becoming as fucking annoying.

Pushing away the niggling thoughts of this fiasco, I quickly finished pinning my hair up and getting ready for my day.

Making sure that no one was snooping on the outside of my room door. I locked the door for extra measure.

Taking out the sheet of paper that was tucked in the bottom of my dresser drawer, I unfolded it and started to magically trace its pattern. Seeing the flicker of a magic spark come to life. Initiating the channel between me and the person I was trying to contact. Just as the circle and signa completed I heard the deep voice of the man speak out.

Spooking me suddenly. Bastard.

Leonardo.

"Greetings, my dear cousin." Leo said, not at all sounding like I was his dear at all.

Snorting at that, I rolled my eyes. "What do I owe this pleasure of a magic call?"

I had to groan at that.

"Really Leo, your going to make me regret this." I said, annoyed and contemplating whether to take something for the headache that was increasing by the seconds.

"I highly doubt that" He rebuked drily.

"True," I sighed. "I called to check in." Hesitating because there was more to why I called. I just didn't want to say too much, given my predicament and all.

"Are we going to continue to lie Elizabeth." And just like that, everything around me sparked as my senses came alert. All the nerve ending on my skin prickled, creating a electricity current that went throughout me to a exterior force.

My breathe hitched, seeing the silky curtain of silver hair drape on my shoulder, while the heat that was behind me disappeared.

"Tell me dear cousin, why the call then?" Leonard deep voice still managing to generate the current of unease inside of me.

"I…" I looked at the mirror that sat on top of my dresser. My eyes making contact with the person in question. With his arms crossed in front of him, he lifted one of his shapely brows at me. Waiting for me to ask the question I was dreading.

Might as well though.

I had to get the ball rolling. The story was barely progressing. Noted, that I wasn't doing much to help most of the drama ensue. Well actually now I was, recalling earlier encounter.

Although between Mara still making herself a sore sight and Daniels unresponsive behavior to my to my request. No wind of the other major players in this novel had started to make them selfs known.

Refocusing on the man that looked like he rather be anywhere but here faces', I decided not to dwell on the sting of my pride saying the next words.

"Your help.." I mumble meekly, looking away. Welp, that bruised my ego.

"How would you need my help?" Ughhhh…asshole was going to make this hard.

"Well I need power…or maybe authority…or.." Crap I didn't even know what I needed at the moment. What ever I could ask for might unhinge things.

Turning around to face the person in question, I shook my head trying to clear it. Only making a sharp pain flash and instantly disappeared. Crap.

Only to again hurt my heads as I got eyeful of what someone might if they looked upon something heavenly.

Leonardo, standing in front of me with full on rob and eternal child god looks of perfection. Complete outer aura of the drastically opposite inner debby downer I usually put up with.

Dude needed to tone down the bright light aura, with his long silvery hair and a flawless porcelain face. It was like everyone made in this novel was made in some prefect image crap.

Holy heck.

Slitting my eyes, I pressed my lips, once again trying to get my headache in control. Well also annoyance. A lot of it too.

Catching on to see his lips twitch in response. Other then that, nothing else could have given me a hint that he was deeply enjoying this.

Throwing my hands in the air, I rolled my eyes and huffed towards the small love chair in the center of bedroom.

Throwing my head back to stare straight into the ceiling. Nothing was ever this hard was it?

Closing my eyes, I inhaled.

This was tiring. The stress of it all.

A butterfly sensation, then a tickle to my nose had me opening my eyes, making me freeze as they clashed with a pair of frosted ones.

So this was what eternal looked like up close, I thought. Taking in the perfection of facial structure.

Reaching up, I saw the slight unease crossing his face but masking it quickly just as quick. Noting that as my fingertips ghosted through the structure of the beautiful mans face. He and everything around me started to relax.

"Pity." The words just floated in the space between us.

Catching my hand as I feathered it towards his chin, Leonardo brows furrowed. Two complex individuals trying to understand each other. I think this was the first time in this reality that Leonardo was in actuality confused or maybe….lost?

It was hard to tell.

"Why?"

"Huh," Leonardo held on to my hand, pausing it from its exploration. Enthralled at the sight. My mind still on how the men in these novel were too prefect to be even remotely on being humans. They belong somewhere in heaven. Or where ever heaven was.

One thing I knew though, I wasn't in heaven or paradise. Feeling the pain in side me pulse and remind me how far from dead I was. Maybe this was purgatory? The deity of this world punishing me maybe?

"What happen?"

The words taking me out of my thoughts once again. Blinking quickly to shake the fog from my thoughts and strangely calm headache. Wait, what!

"Don't do that Leo." I scowled. Realizing what the heck had just happened.

Lifting my head forward and yanking my hand out of his grasp, the current in the room shifted.

"Why?"

"Because its intrusive to use magic on others emotion Leonardo." Shaking my head, standing now to look at him. The small love seat stationed between us.

"Why?" "I just told you..."

"No," He cut in, "why pity?" His eyes steely looking at me. Not being to break away at the curious question he had asked, well aware that no one had ever spoken to him with no regards to his statues.

"I…" I huffed, "Well if you haven't realized yet Leo, you have a nice face."

His lips twitch.

"Is it now?"

I rolled my eyes, this was all going to his head. It didn't help that my cheeks started to warm under his stare.

"What ever." I mumbled. Avoiding eye contact now.

"Listen I didn't need you to come in person, the call was…"

"Just a call?" His dead pen tone once again had me about to defend myself as I looked back at him. My face flaming as he lips were stretch into a smile.

And just like that I didn't know why I was making this so difficult. I was taken back to a time when me and him were partners in crime. A sense of righteousness radiated through out me. I suppose it wasn't as bad as I was making out it to be.

Sure the world was going to end if I didn't stop in the impending apocalypse.

Sure I was continuously being set up to fail.

Sure Daniel didn't love me.

Sure all of this was shit but hey, at-least I got to grace my eyes at a good looking male specimen like Leonardo. Heck, this world was full of them.

The goddess who made this world sure as hell knew how to make them.

I could see the line of women being put on a waiting list to enter this world.

Low income housing had nothing on this waiting list.

So?

"Okay, I guess I'll give." I said, already feeling emollient aura radiating my sense. Grimacing as it happen, noting that he couldn't seem to help himself. Again I relaxed, as if the palm of my soul was touched by heavenly light.

"You know, I can tell when you turn it back on."

"Yes, it seems to turn back on, on its own. I apologize." His smile deflating suddenly.

"It's all right Leo." I said, it was me that had to apologize.

I wasn't here. I was no where to be found to defend him when he accidentally hurt someone and even there after. When he was just a toddler he was deemed too dangerous to be around other by the same monarchy he now served. I wasn't here when they sent a lonely orphanage boy of seven years into seclusion. If it wasn't for his name, the other alternative was to put him to death. I was here now though, half smiling with a tinged of sadness that lingered in my mouth. Feeling heartbroken at all Leonardo must have endured without someone being in his corner. The Leonardo I knew then and the one that stood in front of me were worlds aparts, but now I wasn't. I was here now though, I could make a difference.

Huffing, I waved away the depressing thoughts and feelings. No, time.

"It seems like this place has no respect for me, which I can see you are already well aware of." Grimacing as Leonardo didn't even react to that. "I sorta need something from you." Leonardo was now seated on the small love seat I had just vacated. Reclining back, waiting for me to ask.

"Geeze okay… Listen, can you give me your power?" I sharply turn to make eye contact with a very surprised individual. "No, not like that, I mean, crap. Okay so I need something from you that'll make no one question my authority. Ever."

I didn't look away this time. Waiting for him to say something. Fuck anything would have been awesome as he now took forever to respond. His face devoid of any hint of what he was thinking. The dread inside me building. If I can whole heartedly honest with myself, I was panic prone individual.

With the tilt of his head and a smirk on his lips, I could already conclude that if Leonardo was a play boy, he would have made any women in the five mile radius just swoon.

Gulping as the slither of what I could closely call borderline fear and borderline awe race down my spine. Alerting me that I may have just some how shifted something within me? No.

Maybe the story? I highly doubted that?

All I was sure of though, it was the way his eyes gleam of something intangible. Like his own focus of life had change to this moment.

With that, he finally spoke.

"I think I may have an idea, but Elizabeth, please be ready."
