He burst into tears, tossed aside the infusion stand, yanked out the IV needle, and clung to her legs.
"Fennie, don't go!"
"I can't live without you..."
"Fennie, please stay... don't leave me..."
"I'll let you hit me, scold me, whatever you want, just don't leave me, okay?"
"Fennie, can you really be so heartless and refuse to take responsibility for me?"
As he spoke, Thomas Shannon clung to her legs like a pitiable child who had been bullied, sobbing loudly.
Sophie woke up to the sound of her own laughter. Staring at the ceiling, she realized she had laughed herself awake.
She found this dream unbelievable; it was... utterly absurd. But she loved it! She'd gotten a real kick out of it!
She got out of bed and had just poured herself a glass of water when her mobile phone rang.
Who could be calling her at this hour?
Drinking her water, Sophie walked over to the bedside table, picked up her mobile, and answered, "Hello?"
"Fiona, it's me."
