The night was intoxicating.
After dinner, Sophie Sullivan locked herself in her bedroom.
She didn't want to see Thomas Shannon with Amelia Shaw; she didn't want to pollute her eyes.
She really couldn't figure out Thomas's thoughts. Towards her, he wasn't exactly averse; he was especially infatuated with her body.
But his attitude towards Amelia Shaw was truly baffling.
Lying on the bed, she couldn't fall asleep. The more she failed to sleep, the more depressed she became.
As her mood soured, she couldn't resist cursing Thomas Shannon from head to toe in her mind.
CLICK.
The sound of the door lock turning made her look alertly towards the doorway.
Through the light spilling from the corridor, she saw the silhouette of a man walking in.
CLICK.
The crystal lamp flared with brilliant light. Sophie squeezed her eyes shut, the sudden glare stinging them.
"Waiting for me?" A faint smile touched the corner of Thomas Shannon's lips.
