Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Absolute Obedience

The two of them worked together, binding Sophie Sullivan's legs and hands behind her back.

Unable to move, she began to struggle.

Fine beads of sweat broke out on Sophie Sullivan's forehead. Her hair, damp with perspiration, stuck to her face, leaving her utterly disheveled.

Damn it!

These people!

The maid snorted coldly, picked up the tray, cleared the leftover food, and left the bedroom.

Sophie tried to struggle, but the more she did, the tighter the ropes became.

Soon, she felt her hands and feet growing cold as her circulation was impeded.

She gritted her teeth and tried to endure it.

Five minutes passed...

Fifteen minutes...

Half an hour...

An hour went by, and her hands and legs were already starting to go numb from the prolonged lack of blood flow.

It felt as if thousands of needles were pricking her all at once. Sophie was in such discomfort that cold sweat beaded on the tip of her nose.

No, this can't go on, she thought. If this continues, my hands and legs will eventually be useless.

She struggled to move her body. It took her several minutes to inch the short distance to the door.

She knocked on the door with her head, her hoarse voice crying out, "Let me out!"

「One hour later.」

Sophie, dressed in a European medieval-style maid's outfit complete with a large, fluffy skirt, stood expressionlessly before the maid.

The maid circled her, looking her up and down. "Who told you to pull the collar up?"

Sophie had, on her own, pulled the collar up quite a bit, revealing only her elegant collarbones.

"I told you the three 'don'ts' before. Now, I'm going to teach you the three absolutes."

The maid's expression was Ryan Lane as she reached out and yanked Sophie's collar down. "Absolute obedience, absolute loyalty, absolute devotion."

Sophie remained expressionless. Internally, she was unfazed, even feeling an urge to laugh.

To hell with absolute obedience, loyalty, and devotion!

"Do you understand?" the maid asked, her face cold as she looked at her. "If you don't, I don't mind locking you up again."

Sophie nodded.

Rather than being locked in the bedroom, it's better to feign obedience for now, Sophie decided. Once I've figured out the layout of this place, it won't be too late to plan my escape.

"Speak up. Do you understand?"

Sophie pressed her lips together, her voice hoarse. "I understand."

A smirk touched the corner of the maid's mouth. She turned. "Follow me."

Following behind the maid, Sophie walked through a long corridor to the front of the castle.

Before Sophie could get a clear look at her surroundings, the maid snapped, "Don't let your eyes wander where they shouldn't!"

Sophie retracted her gaze, her eyelids lowered.

The magnificent interior décor transported one back to the royalty of the European Middle Ages.

Luxury and nobility were displayed to perfection.

The maid lifted her skirt hem and ascended the stairs; Sophie, also holding her skirt, followed.

They traversed a corridor, rounded a cloister, and arrived at a door.

A black-clothed bodyguard stood expressionlessly outside the door. The maid lowered her head. "Please inform the Young Master that the person he requested has been brought."

The man in black knocked on the door and, after receiving permission, entered to report.

After a while, the man in black signaled Sophie to enter.

The maid instructed her, "No matter what the Young Master says, you do it. Remember what I told you: absolute obedience."

The maid shoved Sophie forward, causing her to stumble into the study.

The vast study was majestic and awe-inspiring.

The man seated in the large boss chair was handsome and exuded a wicked aura. A cigarette dangled from a corner of his thin lips, and faint, curling smoke wreathed around him.

It lent his handsome features a hazy, dreamlike quality.

Charlie River, who had been standing before the desk giving a report, suddenly fell silent.
