Kai Syaoran materialized inside some sort of narrow stone pool. He found himself enveloped by deep water on all sides, the smooth, cut-stone walls rising just a few feet away from his shoulders—a clear indication that he was not floating in a natural, open body of water.
Peering down through the crystal-clear depth, he noticed the floor was completely barren, devoid of all aquatic life. It appeared as though every living organism in the water had been thoroughly sterilized by some intense, unnatural heat.
Suddenly, the liquid flooded his lungs, plunging him into a agonizing drowning sensation. Though Kai Syaoran possessed a vastly superior lung capacity in his true form, he was currently severely weakened, trapped within the physical limitations of the humanoid form he had assumed.
