Chapter 381 - Destroying the Sect with One Sword

Purple Extreme Sect

Located on an ancient mountain peak, the Purple Extreme Sect was originally a small, unranked sect with only around a hundred disciples, and it had never been famous across the continent.

However, since aligning with the Spirit Hall last year, the Purple Extreme Sect rose rapidly under its banner. It now had thousands of disciples, three Spirit Saint elders, and a Spirit Douluo Sect Master overseeing it. The sect had become quite powerful.

Over the past month, the Purple Extreme Sect had annexed four or five small and medium-sized sects in succession. It had grown into a first-rate sect with a growing reputation on the continent, becoming the talk of the town.

As its power expanded, the Purple Extreme Sect grew increasingly arrogant. No longer targeting weaker sects, they set their sights on the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect, a once-great super faction now in decline.

Of course, even in decline, a starving camel is still bigger than a horse. The Purple Extreme Sect wasn't foolish enough to think they could annex the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect outright. The sect was still protected by Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo, two guardian elders, either of whom could destroy their entire sect. Thus, their provocations were limited to challenging the younger generation, aiming to boost their reputation and further solidify their power.

During this period, the Purple Extreme Sect acted tyrannically, committing crimes and bullying many small sects, even affecting some larger ones. Despite their anger, no sect dared to challenge the Purple Extreme Sect's arrogance at this time, so they silently endured it.

One day at noon, under the bright sun, the disciples of the Purple Extreme Sect were cultivating in the square when the sky suddenly darkened. The sunlight seemed blocked, and the world was thrown into shadow.

"What's going on? Is it going to rain?"

The disciples needed clarification. They looked up and were stunned.

"What... is that?!"

A blood-red river tens of thousands of meters long appeared in the sky. Vast and menacing, it blotted out the sun as it descended toward the entrance of the Purple Extreme Sect.

"The Blood River in the sky?"

A young disciple blinked, guessing.

"No!"

Feeling the terrifying killing intent that came with the river, the disciples' faces changed.

It wasn't a river—it was sword intent!

A vast river of sword energy, formed by countless swords, rushed down from the heavens.

"Run!"

But it was too late by the time Purple Extreme Sect realized what was happening. Like a heavenly sword, the blood-red river of sword energy struck with overwhelming force, splitting the sect's mountain gate in half.

"Rumble..."

The mountain collapsed, and rubble tumbled down. The ancient peak on which the sect stood disintegrated instantly. Countless disciples were annihilated under the terrifying sword energy.

The sect leader, a Spirit Douluo, and the three Spirit Saint elders were not spared. They were all buried under the sword's power, and the entire Purple Extreme Sect was destroyed before anyone could react.

One strike—the Purple Extreme Sect was wiped out!

The world was stunned!

"What happened? Am I seeing things? The Purple Extreme Sect was annihilated in an instant. Who could have done this?!"

People from the surrounding small sects heard the earth-shattering sound and rushed to see what had happened. Shocked and confused voices filled the air, and the area was chaotic.

"Look! There's someone in the sky… no, two people!"

Someone noticed two figures in the sky. As everyone focused their gaze, they realized they were a young man and a young woman hovering above the ruins of the Purple Extreme Sect.

Many people were bewildered and whispered, "Did these two destroy the Purple Extreme Sect?"

In the sky stood a young man and a young woman. The man had black hair draped over his shoulders, sharp eyes, and a focused expression. He looked no older than twenty, while the young woman, even younger, was around fifteen or sixteen. She had bright eyes, white teeth, and a delicate, cute appearance.

They were Fang Xuan and Ning Rongrong!

"Wow… you're a freak!"

Ning Rongrong's eyes widened in shock as she looked down at the ruins of the Purple Extreme Sect, destroyed by a single sword strike. Her jaw nearly dropped. She knew Fang Xuan had become incredibly powerful, but she hadn't expected him to be this strong.

The Purple Extreme Sect had hundreds of Spirit Master disciples, including over a hundred high-level Spirit Masters. Its leadership consisted of Spirit Saint, making it a first-rate force. Yet, their Spirit Douluo sect master hadn't even had a chance to show himself before Fang Xuan's sword strike obliterated the entire sect. The whole mountain had been split in half.

Ning Rongrong's mind was in turmoil as she stared at Fang Xuan beside her. Even her Grandpa Jian might not have been able to pull off something like this. Just how strong was this guy now?

"Alright, stop staring. Let's go!" Fang Xuan ignored Ning Rongrong's stunned gaze, calmly putting Rain Rain away.

Then, he grabbed Ning Rongrong by the collar, lifting her like a little chick. He took off toward the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect using Kun Peng's extreme speed.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Fang Xuan, let go of me!"

Ning Rongrong's face flushed red in embarrassment. She struggled as he held her, upset at being treated so roughly. As the little princess of the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect, she couldn't imagine what people would say if they saw her being carried like a helpless chick.

"Fang Xuan, did you hear me? Let go of me!" she shouted, gritting her teeth and pounding her fists against his chest.

"As you wish!" Fang Xuan grinned mischievously, then quickly let go of her.

Ning Rongrong's eyes widened in shock as she suddenly started free-falling. With a loud splash, she plunged into a nearby lake, sending water splashing over ten feet into the air.

"Fang Xuan!" she screamed in fury as her voice echoed through the forest.

An hour later, the two sat by a bonfire in the forest. Ning Rongrong was soaking wet, her cheeks puffed in anger as she warmed herself by the fire. Every so often, she shot resentful glances at Fang Xuan, who was leaning casually against a tree.

"Don't give me that look. You told me to let go," Fang Xuan said, amused as he spread his hands.

"You did that on purpose! Don't bother explaining!" Ning Rongrong snapped, her fury only growing.

"Alright, I did it on purpose. I admit it." Fang Xuan smiled teasingly, giving her a look that seemed to say,

What will you do about it?

"You…!" Ning Rongrong clenched her fists, knowing she could do nothing. His strength was too overwhelming. She could only sit there, fuming.

During the Spirit Master Tournament, the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect fought against the Spirit Hall for Fang Xuan. Later, they tried to rescue him. Though they couldn't send troops to help, Fang Xuan never forgot their kindness. That was why he had destroyed the Purple Extreme Sect, who had been harassing them.

In fact, Emperor Xue Ye and Ning Fengzhi had once arranged for Fang Xuan and Ning Rongrong to be betrothed. However, the engagement was annulled when Xue Ye changed his mind.

As they sat alone in the forest, both were filled with mixed emotions. They wanted to speak, but neither knew what to say. Silence stretched between them.

Finally, Fang Xuan sighed and broke the silence. "Here," he said, taking out a radiant herb, "this is a precious immortal herb called the Beautiful Silk Tulip. It can fix the flaws in your martial spirit and evolve your Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda into the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda. Think of it as a small gift."

Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up as she carefully took the Beautiful Silk Tulip from Fang Xuan's hand, inspecting it closely.

"What did you say? This herb can evolve my Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda. Are you serious? You're not lying, are you?" she asked, her voice excitedly.

"It's simple to use. Just eat it and refine it with your spirit power. You'll see for yourself," Fang Xuan replied, a mysterious smile on his face.

Suspicious, Ning Rongrong narrowed her eyes at him. Something about his smile made her uneasy. Was there more to this than he was letting on?

"However, after you evolve your pagoda, I have a small request," Fang Xuan said, smiling innocently.

"What is it?" Ning Rongrong asked, curiosity piqued.

"Let me… slash you!"
