A pot of lush banana leaves filled the room, wide green leaves casting large shadows, cool and pleasant. The black cat lay next to the potted plant, squinting and dozing, its tail flicking now and then.
It was unclear if it was deliberately imitating or mistaking the cat's tail for one of its own kind, but the shadows of eight snakes followed its occasional flicking.
The cat was not quite accustomed to these extra things on its body, occasionally turning its head impatiently to glance, lazily meowing once, then turning back to continue its nap.
Gavin Graves spent two days on the ship with Cherry, and then two more guests requested to see the evil god.
Gavin asked her how many were left unseen.
Cherry counted on her fingers: "Saw a foreign old lady, met Purple Summers and Alexander Summers, once these two people are also seen, uh-huh... three left."
Gavin said, "Then there are only two left."
