"Alright." Jane Sampson responded, then slowly put away her mobile phone.
She lowered her head.
Her eyes turned red.
"What did Mr. Carter say?" Brooke Black hurriedly asked, "Did he accuse you?"
Jane Sampson shook her head, "Daddy said he trusts me and that the whole family trusts me, telling me not to overthink."
"That's better." Brooke Black said, "You've been on edge all afternoon, worrying that they wouldn't believe you. Are you truly at ease now?"
"Jane, auntie is telling you—a true family doesn't need extensive explanations. If someone chooses to believe, they'll believe you. But if they didn't trust you from the start, no amount of explaining will convince them otherwise. Such people are merely outsiders, not family."
Brooke Black tenderly stroked Jane Sampson's head, "You're sensitive and prone to overthinking; I understand. Look, your daddy and mommy didn't let you down—they believe you."
