After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson sat in the bed, furrowing her eyebrows and thinking for a long time.
When James Black returned with her medicine, he saw her daydreaming. He thought she was pondering work-related issues, so he didn't disturb her and went straight to the kitchen to heat up her medicine.
But when he finished heating the medicine and brought the bowl to Jane, she was still in the same expression and pose, deep in thought, completely unaware of his arrival.
"Drink the medicine." James Black sat in front of Jane Sampson and handed her the bowl.
Jane Sampson was afraid of burning herself, so James didn't heat the medicine too much. She took the bowl, lowered her head, and, like a little cat, tested the temperature of the dark-colored medicine with her tongue. Finding it just right, she closed her eyes and gulped it down.
She drank the entire large bowl in just a short while.
