Ellen Candi was slightly taken aback by his words. Her face showed an indescribable expression, and after a moment, she lowered her head and said with a strained voice, "No."
Trenton Smith nodded, not too surprised. He waved his hand and started walking toward the door. Before reaching it, he heard his phone ringing. Ellen Candi watched as he answered it, his voice becoming much gentler as he called out a name: "Norris? Mm-hmm, I'm done with the dinner, I'll be home soon. You and the baby should sleep early, don't wait for me."
Ellen Candi looked at him with a touch of speechlessness as he casually lied. The man's figure gradually disappeared down the hallway, but his gentle voice still seemed to linger in her ears. He said, "It's just to please the wife," and it turned out he really was only trying to please one person.
