"I had something to deal with Aria," Rufus said simply, "She went back to the hotel. I'll head back now."
"Come back early—let's have hot pot together tonight."
It wasn't often that Rufus came back, and with the whole family present, they'd called Maple and Ava early in the morning, asking them to come for dinner tonight.
Rufus agreed with a simple "on my way" before hanging up the phone.
He stood where he was, gently pinching the bridge of his nose, feeling a faint and inexplicable vexation in his heart.
He glanced in the direction Aria had departed, his eyes darkening slightly. After a moment's pause, he turned and began walking toward Trenton's villa.
Norris was upstairs trying on dresses and had not come down yet. Trenton was sitting on the sofa playing with his daughter. When he noticed Rufus return, he raised an eyebrow and said, "What's going on between you and Aria?"
Rufus sat across from him. "We had a fight."
His tone was lukewarm.
