"That won't happen!" Ellen interrupted him, lifting her head to stare at him sternly. "I have nothing for him to use. These past days, it's only because of him that I've managed to escape Philip Shaw's pursuit! He has no reason to help me, purely because I'm Aldana's sister. Eric, his motives are far simpler than yours."
Eric's figure trembled slightly. His lips tightened as he lowered his gaze to her.
Ellen furrowed her brow slightly and lowered her head, no longer looking at him.
"I can't forgive you. I won't let anyone who hurt Aldana go unpunished. But... I also can't hurt you." Her tone sank. "Please leave, won't you? Don't appear in front of Aldana and me again. I will take good care of Aldana..." She raised her head to look at Eric, her eyes slightly red. "I'm very grateful for everything you've done for me all these years. Although I don't fully understand yet what happened between all of you, I can guess how much effort you put into finding me."
