Aidan Lucas could no longer contain himself.
In his view, everything Tara Hammond said were merely excuses, merely justifications.
She was disloyal. She was fickle and unfaithful. She had utterly humiliated him with the worst kind of betrayal!
Aidan Lucas raised the cane in his hand and swung it fiercely at Tara Hammond.
Evelyn Lucas tried to step in, but Tara pushed her aside.
With her hair disheveled, Tara Hammond raised her head and faced Aidan Lucas head-on, "Go ahead, hit me! Kill me if you dare! It wouldn't be the first time you've taken your anger out on me. To climb the ladder, you could make your daughter marry a man like that, you could force me to curry favor with Maxwell Lucas, that old fellow. There's nothing you wouldn't do! Aidan Lucas, you'd better kill me... Ah!"
A blood-curdling scream.
Aidan Lucas's cane landed hard on Tara Hammond's back.
"Ugh—" Tara coughed up a mouthful of blood, her complexion turning ghostly pale.
