Coulson took out his phone, found Charles Doyle's number, and made the call. Everyone around him held their breath, watching anxiously.
When the call connected, Coulson let out a sigh of relief—he had been worried that the call might not get through.
"Mr. Charles, this is Agent Coulson from S.H.I.E.L.D."
Skye was confused. Weren't they supposed to contact the renowned medical expert Tsunade? Why were they reaching out to the legendary ninja Immortal, Charles Doyle?
…
Meanwhile-
At the training ground-
Charles was puzzled as to why Coulson was calling him. There hadn't been any major incidents lately, had there?
"It's been a while. I heard you were badly injured during the battle in New York," Charles remarked.
Coulson chuckled, "Thanks for your concern. I've fully recovered."
"This time, I'm calling because we need your help with something."
Upon hearing there was a request, Charles smiled, "Coulson, you know I don't work for free. If you need my help, there's a price."
Coulson reassured him, "Rest assured, Mr. Charles. We wouldn't expect you to help for nothing. There's been a virus outbreak, and we need Lady Tsunade's expertise."
He then went on to explain the situation in detail.
After listening to Coulson, Charles understood the issue, "Got it. I'll hand the phone to Tsunade. She's right here with me."
Charles then turned to Tsunade and said, "Tsunade, there's a medical mission request."
Tsunade stepped over to Charles, taking the phone from him.
As he handed over the phone, Charles found it odd that Coulson hadn't reached out to the Cloud Ninja, C, a skilled medical and sensory ninja, especially since Killer Bee was already on the team.
Then he quickly figured out that since Killer Bee was still young, he likely didn't know C that well yet.
Tsunade spoke into the phone, "What's the situation?"
Coulson responded, "It's a virus, originating from a Chitauri soldier's helmet."
"Oh, spread by static electricity," Tsunade noted, "I understand. I'm familiar with the situation."
Coulson continued, "We have some data. Could you give us an email to send it over to you for review? We're running out of time—only two hours left."
Tsunade chuckled, "No need for that. I already know what's going on, and I've seen this virus before."
Surprised, Coulson asked, "You… you know what it is?"
"Yes, I do," Tsunade replied.
"I can guide you through the treatment remotely."
Coulson smiled, relieved, "That's fantastic. Thank you so much."
Tsunade cleared her throat and added, "But first, let's talk about the fee. This would be considered a 'freelance' medical job, wouldn't it?"
Coulson nodded, understanding, "For payment, we'll offer one 084 object."
"Like the deal with the Hidden Mist Village, you'll be able to go into the vault and choose the item yourself. How does that sound?"
Tsunade glanced at Charles, and after seeing him nod, she agreed to Coulson's terms.
"Alright, one 084 item," she confirmed.
May looked at Coulson and asked, "Sir, are you sure about this? Will the Director approve?"
Coulson covered the phone and turned to May, "The lives of our team members are the most important thing. I have the authority to act autonomously, and I'll take responsibility for this decision."
Seeing his resolve, May said nothing further.
Coulson then put the phone on speaker, connecting it to the lab's PA system.
"Princess Tsunade, we're counting on you now," he said.
Tsunade took the phone and moved to a quieter spot, explaining, "This virus is simple to deal with. Since the Chitauri soldier wearing that helmet didn't get infected, it means his body has antibodies and is immune to the virus."
"What you need to do is open the helmet and see if you can collect some epithelial cells from inside."
"I remember there should be some remnants. I studied their equipment back then."
Hearing Tsunade's words, everyone on the plane smiled. Fitz, especially, was thrilled.
"I'll go get the helmet!" he exclaimed.
Fitz hurried to the interrogation room, grabbed the case containing the Chitauri helmet, and rushed back.
When he reached the lab, he burst through the door. Simmons, touched by his determination, said, "Fitz, you shouldn't have come in."
Fitz shook his head, "It's fine. The medical expert just gave us the answer. All we need to do is create a serum."
Simmons smiled, "No, it's vaccine."
The others, watching the two from outside the lab, also smiled. The solution was almost in their hands.
Fitz, now gloved up, carefully extracted some epithelial cells from the Chitauri helmet.
Simmons was overjoyed, "There are still some residual tissue layers!"
The two immediately set to work creating the vaccine, while Tsunade hung up the phone.
"Contact me if there are any complications, but since there are epithelial cells, everything should go smoothly."
…
Meanwhile-
Charles had finished the sparring session and approached Might Guy.
"Guy, are you alright?"
Guy nodded but said, "Your punch was a bit too much. I'll need a day or two to recover."
Charles laughed, "Take a week off for your team."
Neji, Lee, and Tenten smiled in excitement, "Thank you, Lord Charles!"
Then Charles addressed the group, "Since the sparring session is over, let's all gather for a feast later."
"Ginny, you're in charge of organizing the dinner."
Ginny nodded, "Yes, boss, I'll take care of everything."
"If anyone still wants to spar before the feast, feel free to step up."
Hearing this, Guy sprang up from his chair and ran to Kakashi, "Kakashi, my eternal rival! Let's have a friendly match!"
Kakashi, recalling Guy's Sixth Gate and the devastating Morning Peacock technique, thought to himself, 'Is that move meant for me?'
He laughed awkwardly, "Guy, you're still recovering. Today isn't the best time for a match."
Shizune added, "Guy, you need to rest. Your injuries haven't fully healed yet."
Meanwhile, Obito looked around for someone to spar with and quickly locked in on Naruto. He leaped over and pointed at him, "Naruto, come experience the might of the great ninja Obito!"
