Alex sat beside Geneva, arms folded, watching her with a mixture of disbelief and reluctant amusement. From time to time, he shook his head. The two were in her personal parlour. After retirement, he had been spending most of his waking time with her, just lazing away. However, Geneva never ceased to amaze him with her antics, especially her most recent one that evening.
"What exactly do you get out of all this?" he asked, his tone hovering between exasperated curiosity and surrender.
Geneva didn't even blink. "Are you asking because you genuinely don't know? Or is this your way of being coy?"
Alex groaned, rubbing his temples. "You know they're getting married in a few hours, right?"
"And that's exactly why now was perfect," she replied, utterly pleased with herself. "A little something to, you know… nudge the swimmers along. The baby-making ones, to be precise."
He blinked. "You drugged your future daughter-in-law?"
