Chapter 3 - 2

They get to the main hall. Everyone looks at them. Lei had noticed and got nervous.

"Why is everyone looking at us?" Lei mumbled to Yu Min.

"Maybe because we walked in together," Yu Min replied.

"O-Oh," Lei said as she went over to her friends, flustered.

Yu Min let out a chuckle. He headed over to his parents.

"Woah, Lei," Tao, Shen, and Wenran said. Wenran had finished her book and was talking to the other two before Lei had come over.

"Did Aunt and Uncle announce anything while Yu Min and I were away?" She asked.

"Yes and no," Wenran shrugged her shoulders.

"They did announce something, but it had nothing to do with the two of you," Shen said.

"Phew. I was nervous there for a second," Lei wiped her forehead from the sweat.

Tao, Shen, Wenran let out a small chuckle.

Lei looked at them, "you better not be playing with me."

"We're not," Shen stated.

"Good. I'm going to get some food," Lei stated as she headed to the food table.

"Ok," the three girls said.

A while later, most of the people had left. Lei stayed a little longer, just to walk around Yu Min's mansion. She was walking around. Of course, Yu Min was following her so that she didn't get lost or go into a building that she's not supposed to be in. Lei knew that Yu Min was following her, she was smiling.

"I wonder if Yu Min's room is near and if I can go inside," Lei rambled, but loud enough for Yu Min to hear. She laughed as she knew which room he was in. Lei started to walk towards his room.

Yu Min jumps in front of her, "Lei Feng, why must you be like this?"

"Because I can be and I'm in the safety of my friend's mansion," she said as she smiled.

Yu Min let out a small quiet sigh of happiness, "ok, but you do know that you're still not able to go to my room.

"Yelp, there goes my plan," Lei stated.

Yu Min facepalmed. "Why are we friends still?"

"Because you love me and you've had to deal with me since we were little," Lei smiled.

"You do know that I used to hate you growing up, right?"

"Of course, I know, but I was always confused on why you hated me."

"Well, do you want to know why I used to hate you?"

"Well, if it's a stupid reason, then no. But if it's not a stupid reason, then yes."

"I don't know if it's a stupid reason, so I'm just going to tell you. The reason I used to hate you, was because you were so annoying and always wanted to be around me."

"I wasn't annoying, and I didn't always want to be around you."

"Sure."

"Plus, I'm sure I made you bad days into good days!" She smiled.

Yu Min smiled and chuckled. "You did, even though I never wanted you to make my days good."

"Well, I'm glad." She smiled; a little bit bigger.

"Of course, you're glad," he smiled.

Lei yawned a bit. "Hey, remember when we used to sneak out late at night to look at the stars on the roof?"

Yu Min smiled but didn't mention that Lei had yawned. "I do remember. Why do you bring it up?"

"Well, I was wondering if we could do that?"

"Hmm, sure, but if you fall asleep, you'll be staying here," Yu Min mentioned.

Lei nodded as she knew that Yu Min wouldn't take her home if she fell asleep.

"Let's go to my room and get on the roof," Yu Min started walking to his room.

Lei followed behind. "If I do fall asleep, then where will you bring me? I mean like which room."

"To your room. My parents still have your room setup, ever in case something was to happen."

"Oh. Ok."

The two get there, Yu Min jumps up with Lei in his arms. He let's go after they land. Lei went, got into her favorite place, and laid down to look at the stars.

Yu Min smiled as he did the same.

"You know, it's been a while since I've done something like this. I mean something as relaxing as this," Lei mentioned as she looked up at the stars.

"Is college getting to you that much?" Yu Min had some worry in his voice.

"That and not knowing how my parents are," Lei bemoaned.

"Oh. Well, I'm sure that they're fine. They might just be busy with getting plans set up."

"I know. I mean they sent letters to Bai Chun" Lei looked over at him.

"Oh" Yu Min looked back at her.

Lei nodded as she was holding in her tears as she didn't want to cry in front of Yu Min.

"Lei," he whispered gently and softly. Yu Min knows how it's like not hearing from their parents.

Lei would wipe her eyes. "I'm fine, Yu Min. Trust me, ok?" She sniffed.

Yu Min wanted to tell her that she's not fine and that it's okay to cry in front of him, but he ended up telling her, "Ok. I trust you, but if it gets unbearable to hold back, then you can come to me."

Lei nodded as she let out a little smile. Of course, she knew that she could go to him, she just didn't want to interrupt him. She knows that Yu Min is one busy person.

The two relaxed as they watched the stars. A few hours later, Lei had fallen asleep. Yu Min noticed and smiled. He picked her up and carried her to her room.

In the morning, or so Lei thinks, she wakes up and sits up. She forgot where she was for a few seconds and then she remembered where she was. "Right, I'm in my room at Min's mansion. I must've fallen asleep while we were stargazing." Lei rambled. She got up and went to the dining hall.

Lei got to the dining hall and saw Aunt Jiang, Uncle Qin, and Yu Min. "Morning, Aunt, Uncle, Yu Min." She walked over and sat at the table.

"Morning, Lei," they all said at the same time.

Lei smiled. "What's for breakfast?"

Yu Min laughed, "it's lunch time, Lei."

"What? No, it's still morning."

Uncle Qin and Aunt Jiang smiled as they played along.

"Lei, he is right. It's lunch time," Uncle Qin chimed in.

Lei looked at Uncle Qin, "that can't be. The sun isn't in the middle of the sky, yet."

"The sun is in the middle of the sky, Lei," Aunt Jiang chimed in.

"Lei, you were pretty tired when we went to stargaze," Yu Min mentioned.

"I guess I might've been super tired then." Lei scratched the back of her head. "So-sorry."

"It's fine Lei," Yu Min mentioned.

Aunt Jiang looked at Lei and whispered to her that it was morning, Yu Min just wanted to prank her.

Lei heard and nodded. She smiled as she continued to play along.

The servants came and gave them their breakfast. They all said thanks before they started eating.

After a while, all of them were done eating. Lei had told them that she needed to be somewhere today. So, Lei was heading to the place. Little does she know; her three best friends are following her.

Lei was almost there when she heard footsteps. She looked around and spotted her three best friends. "Really?" Lei called out.

They walked over to her and nodded.

"We saw you walking and since we've been busy with college. We wanted to make sure you weren't up to any trouble," Tao said.

"I'm not up to any trouble. I'm heading to the-"

"Lei don't lie to us, we know where you're going," Shen interrupted Lei.

"Ok. Fine, I won't lie, but I'm not up to any trouble. I promised someone that I would see them today at the restaurant," Lei replied.

"Ok. Do we know this person?" Wenran asked as she wanted to make sure that Lei was safe with the person alone.

"Yes. He's in our college," Lei mentioned, "he's the one almost every girl is over. No, it's not Yu Min. I just came from there."

The three girls' eyes widened.

Lei realized how that sounded and waved her hands, "I don't mean it like that. I meant like I stayed to stargaze with him, and I fell asleep, and he carried me to my room that Yu Min's parents had kept."

"Ok. We'll believe you. I guess we'll let you see this boy," Tao said as she and the other two waved bye and left.

"Ok. Bye bye, you three," Lei called out as she headed to the place. She would get to the place and would walk in. Lei walked to the room where the person would be.

"Kai," Lei said.

"Come in, come in, Lei," Kai called out as he got up.

Lei opened the door and walked in. "Hi Kai."

"Hi Lei. So glad you could make it," Kai stated as he walked over to her.

Lei looked at him, "well, I had to come because you have information about the people I'm after."

"I do, but before I give you the information, let's eat," Kai said as he motioned for her to sit down.

"Kai, you know that I don't have time to sit and eat. I'm on a tight schedule," Lei told him in a very stern tone.

"I know, but I won't give you the information that I have," Kai said as he was threatening Lei now.

"I could leave and find out what information that you have from a different person," Lei mentioned, not caring.

"Sweetheart, no one else would have the information that I have."

Lei looked at him. "You're a part of the group of people that I'm looking for, aren't you?"

"Lei, now if I was a part of the group of people, why would I give you information on them?" he questioned in a very convincing tone.

"You could just lead me into a trap," she mentioned.

"Now, how could I lead you into a trap?"

"Very carefully."

Kai was interested now.

"I'm not going to tell you how you could lead me into a trap."

"About a hint?"

"Nope," Lei said as she headed towards the door. Lei felt like there was more than one person in the room with her.

"Where are you going?" Kai asked as he grabbed her hand.

Lei attacks. "I had a feeling you were in the group."

Kai went flying back as more people popped out. Lei looks at them as she smirks. One by one they came to attack. Lei attacked them back, knocking the majority out. Lei would take the opportunity to run out and to an open place. The rest of them followed her.

Lei had enough time to yell for the guards and them being there before the rest of the group appeared. Lei had explained what was going on. The guards agreed to help her.

The others showed up and got into position, not caring that there were guards there. They attacked, but so did the guards and Lei. Lei would attack the so-called leader of this group but would end up getting hurt by the leader. The guards got the rest of the bad guys and helped Lei as she was in so much pain. She did try her best to keep fighting the so-called leader, but now, she didn't care that she was in so much pain. Lei had to get this person so that they could bring them into question. But little do they know that the bad guys had an instant poison pill in their mouth and would bite it and end their lives with it.

Lei and the guards had the leader surrounded and the leader bit the pill and died. They were all confused about what happened.

"Get them to the biopsy building so that I can find out what happened," Lei told the guards.

They nodded and brought them to the biopsy building.

Lei headed back to her mansion, but after a few miles, she fell and passed out, due to the pain that her injury was causing her. Luckily, someone was near and took her back to her mansion.

The person took her to her room so that Bai Chun could patch her up. They laid her down on her bed so that they could get Bai Chun. They get Bai Chun and tell him that Lei opened her wound.

Bai Chun ran to her room to patch her up. When he got there, he got to work on patching her up. "Lei, why can't you follow my orders?" he mumbled as he finished patching her up. Bai Chun went and put away the rest of the medicine.

It's been several minutes. Lei started to wake up, still a little in pain, but she can bear it. She looks around, wondering how she got back to her mansion. Lei would try to sit up, but Bai Chun gently pushed her back down.

"Sister Lei, stay laying down," Bai Chun stated, "resting helps heal your injury faster."

"But I got a clue on the group of people that I'm af-"

Bai Chun interrupted, "Lei, I ordered you to stay home and rest so that you wouldn't be where you are now."

"I did rest and when I accidentally opened the wound again, Dai Hui bandaged me. Plus, it's boring here," Lei stated.

"Lei!" Bai Chun yelled.

"What? I was heading back from the palace. His men thought my carriage was someone else's and so they hijacked it and brought me to him…." Lei mumbled.

"This is why we can't have nice things, Lei. Or I should say 'this is why you can't have nice things,'"

"I know, Bai Chun," Lei mumbled.

"It seems like you don't know, sister," Bai Chun sighed, "if mother and father were here, they would ground you. So, you better feel grateful that I won't ground you, even though I should ground you."

Lei would look away and down, knowing that Bai Chun could ground her or anything that mother and father could do to her.

"Sister, just rest," Bai Chun stated, "that's an order and if you want any of your friends, ask your servants to bring them here to you."

Lei nodded. "Ok."

"And if you leave, I'll know," Bai Chun mentioned.

Lei looked at him, her face read "Really?"

"Yes," he replied, "well, now that you're awake and know your orders, I'll be leaving." And with that, he left.

"Ugh! Great, as soon as I get someone who's a part of the group I'm after, I get grounded and can't go anywhere," Lei mumbled. She sat up slowly so she was not in great pain and so she didn't open her wound again. Lei thinks about how she could tell Yu Min, Tao, Shen, and Wenran about what she had found out.

It's been a few days; Lei still hadn't figured out how to tell her friends about her findings without anyone else listening in on their conversation. She was up, walking around, but in her room and takes a break whenever she's in pain.

"How am I going to tell them without writing them a letter?" Lei rambled. She was struggling. Lei could just invite them over, but she feels like it would be suspicious that she has invited her friends that know about the mission. She continues to ponder how to tell her friends without anyone else knowing.

As Lei continues to ponder, Yu Min walks in and sees that Lei was up, walking around. "Lei, you need to be resting so you don't make your wound worse than it already is," Yu Min said.

Lei jumps a bit, "Yu Min!" she exclaimed, "I'm so glad you're here. I have something to tell you, but no one else can know about it."

"Lei, calm down. Slow down, you're talking too fast for me to understand what you're even saying," Yu Min stated as he walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulder.

Lei nodded as she took a few deep breaths to calm down. "I have something to tell you that no one can know," Lei repeated to herself.

"Ok. Let's sit down and you can tell me what you have to tell me, ok?" Yu Min removed his hands from Lei's shoulders.

Lei nodded as she walked to her bed. Yu Min followed. They both sat down.

"Ok, what is it you want to tell me?" Yu Min asked, softly.

"Kai. He's a part of the group that I'm after. He-At the get-together that your parents put on, he was there and told me that he had information about the group. He said that we could talk the next day at the restaurant. The next day rolled around. I get to the restaurant and get to the room he's in. We started talking, or well, fighting. I went to leave, and he went to grab my arm, so I kicked him. He had backup," Lei said as she left out the part where Kai called her sweetheart.

Yu Min's eyes widened, but he had a feeling that Kai was a part of the group. "That doesn't surprise me," he mentioned.

"Really?" Lei asked as she looked at him.

Yu Min nodded, "yeah. I mean whenever we came into contact with each other, he just gave off a bad aura."

Lei thinks about it a little more, "I guess he does give off a bad aura."

"Yeah. So, you didn't hear what he had to say about the group?"

Lei shook her head, "I shouldn't have gone, but if I hadn't gone, I wouldn't have gotten a big clue."

"Lei, you should've asked me or one of your friends," Yu Min stated.

"I should've told them when they stalked me when I was almost there, but how was I supposed to know?"

Yu Min looked at her, with a sweet look, "we can't tell the future, we're human."

Lei looked back at him, feeling a bit better. If Xiao hadn't written that Lei had a mission that was only for her, she wouldn't be in this situation. Xiao is also glad that she wrote Lei's friends to be fantastic like her actual friends.

Yu Min smiled as he patted her head. "Once you're healed, you can get back to your mission. Tao, Shen, Wenran, and I will try our best to help you with this as you're ordered to stay home and rest."

Lei nodded, she knew that her friends and Yu Min will help her with the mission as she's out.

"Now, rest. My parents might stop by and keep you company. I'm sure the Crown Prince and the Empress will visit you," Yu Min said as he got up so that Lei could rest.

"Uncle and Auntie don't need to stop by and keep me company. I know that the Crown Prince and the Empress will stop by to keep me company for a little bit," Lei stated as she took off her shoes and went to lay down.

"Lei, you know that I can't stop them from coming here," Yu Min mentioned.

"Yeah, I know, but please try," Lei replied.

"Good, I'll get going then, so you can rest," Yu Min waved as he left.

"Ok. Bye bye, Yu Min," Lei said as she laid down and passed out.

Over the week and half, Aunt and Uncle, Crown Prince, the Empress, Yu Min, Tao, Shen, and Wenran stopped by to keep Lei company as she was healing. Lei healed up wonderfully. She was able to go back to college and get back to her mission. Lei was happy as she was able to leave her mansion.

Lei was getting dressed for college when Prince Zhen walked in.

"Lei!!" Prince Zhen yelled.

"Why is it whenever I get dressed or get undressed, someone just walks in?" Lei mumbles. "Stay put, I'm getting dressed for college."

Prince Zhen stopped. "Sorry for barging in, but it's important!"

"Just tell me as I get dressed," Lei called out.

"Ok," Prince Zhen said, "my parents got word from your parents saying that they won the battle and are headed home."

"Re-really?" Lei asked as she finished dressing.

"Yes, their expected home next week or so," Prince Zhen mentioned.

Lei came out and hugged him. "You better not be joking," Lei stated.

"I'm not. Though, you need to act surprised when they arrive as my parents wanted to keep them coming home as a surprise for you," he replied.

Lei nodded, "Ok, I will."

Prince Zhen smiled, "you might want to go to college."

"Right. I don't want to be late for the first day back," Lei smiled as she was about to run out and to college.

"Lei, remember to grab something to eat!" Prince Zhen exclaimed.

"I will. If I don't, I know my friends will grab me something," Lei stated as she stopped and looked back at him, "also, don't stay in my room for the whole day, Prince Zhen."

"Ok. I won't. Besides, I have things to do." Prince Zhen said as he chuckled and headed to the door.

"Good," Lei waved as she left.

"Bye Lei!" Prince Zhen yelled as he left as well.

Lei got to the college and headed to her class. When she got to the classroom, no one was there. "Hello?" She called out, confused.

No one answered.

"Anyone here?" Lei called out, again.

Yet again, no one answered.

Lei walks around to see if there was a note or something saying where the class was. There was nothing to indicate that the class was switched or was canceled. So, Lei decided to see if they were still walking around and talking to people.

As she was walking, she would see balloons in a line which would lead her to an open area on campus, if she were to follow the balloons. She would follow the balloons. Once she got to the end of the balloons, she saw her friends, Professor Shiqi Juan, and Yu Min. Lei was so confused as she walked over. "What's going on?" Lei questioned.

"Welcome back, Lei Feng," all of them said, smiling.

Lei smiled, "thanks. It feels good to be back, though I still can't overwork myself by doing a lot of things yet."

They nodded. Tao, Shen, and Wenran hugged her. Lei hugged back.

"Did you guys really plan a welcome back party for me?"

"We did, but it was all Yu Min's idea," Shen stated, but lowered her voice as she mentioned that it was Yu Min's idea.

Lei shook her head, smiling. "Really?"

The three nodded.

"That's strange. Normally he isn't the one who produces an idea that involves a party."

"We were shocked when he came to us and asked us if we would help him set up a surprise welcome back party for you," Tao mentioned.

"Wow. I would be shocked as well, but I would pinch myself to see if I weren't dreaming," Lei mentioned as she chuckled.

Yu Min looked over at the girls, but mainly looked at Lei. He was happy that she wasn't stuck in her mansion.

Lei noticed, "hey girls, I'll be back. There's someone I want to talk to."

"Ok. Don't be long, because class will start soon," the girls said as they headed back to the classroom.
