Flat-Brim Samurai Chapter 158 - Weakspot
Devan was at his wits end, nothing could stop the ever increasing number of these ever twisting mole monsters. At first, they appear normal, but the more of them he killed the more twisted their forms became. Conjoined, massive and ugly, they surrounded him as he tried his best to kill as many as he could. He tried his hardest but that wasn't enough, fear kept building, and with that fear came more horrors.
Much the same as Devan, Andrea was being shot at by bolts of electricity and metal that she simply couldn't defend against. Sure, her defenses tried their best to block everything but the shots were getting through more and more as the fight kept moving and made it so that she was riddled with holes. Tampering her body to the extreme allowed her to keep the flow of blood manageable. Her body was enhanced by her own technology that started to fail her. She made sure that it would still work even without the tech being online just in case of a situation like this.
They both were backed into a corner, nothing they did was making any sense to them, until they felt a force at the barrier of the Dance Room. A force resounded through the closed space, a crack suddenly appeared. That crack became louder and louder, until CRASH. The wall to the Dance Room was broken and they saw a figure enter the room, it was Ava. Since she was too weak beforehand she wasn't allowed to join in on the fighting. She couldn't enhance her body with the technology in this dimension and she hadn't trained for as long as Devan. However, she had assimilated to her spirit enough to see the base elements of reality, she saw the inner workings of the Nexus. Even more, her power allowed her to perceive all fighting styles and weaknesses at a glance, even before fighting someone.
She had seen the Dance Room from a far when she was fighting the other forces of the invading army, stronger and stronger she became as she mowed through the forces, ripping their joints off and slamming them into surfaces with immense force, her martial sense was beyond anything that anyone here could fight against, except for the truly elite. The Dance Room was getting weaker and weaker for some weird reason and had developed weak points, so she had to check it out…
Ava's purple aura emanated around the broken wall, the skin on her fist broken but still intact.
She smiled ,"I thought you guys were strong enough on your own."
Both of their eyes lit up, Devan couldn't hear a thing but he could see the way her lips moved and knew what she said.
She looked over at the creature drenched in a field of darkness and then at the beings surrounding the room.
Instantly she said ,"These things feed on fear, but of a very unique kind, powerlessness. Trying to counter them with your original and most powerful power set will only make the enemy stronger, to stop them from getting stronger you need to cut the fear off at its source, you need to defeat it with something that is foreign, completely opposite of what you normally do.
Devan and Andrea looked at their adversities. They stopped using the powers they were familiar with and funneled them into something else. For Devan it was casting his Quison by itself, he always combined his sound waves with movement but never used his Quison by itself. For Andrea, she never dropped her technology and used her hands to finish business. They both dashed at their entities, a huge explosion erupted as the Dance Room shook. In the next moment they stood atop their enemies, the Dance Room started to activate again and they both regained their powers. Fear looked at them, she didn't know how to control her face at that moment and smiled and frowned at the same time, laughing hysterically.
Quison erupted from the creature in front of them, then, their fears were made manifest in her form, her body was transforming into something oppressive and- KABOOM. Devan smashed the head of the demon in front of him.
Devan spoke aloud ,"You didn't really think that I was going to let you transform, did ya?"
He smashed the creature in front of him with his boombox, (1 2 3 and), space warped massively around him and as he brought it down, light and time exploded KABOOM. In the remnants of the dust cloud, fear was on the ground, dead, and Devan lifted his hand up high.
