Flat-Brim Samurai Chapter 114 - Meeting an old friend
The cool breeze glided over Apollo's body on top of the mountain, like a blanket of wind. He breathed in and out in meditation, cooling himself off from the months of training he had just had. Apollo thought to himself (It's corny but I really did make a new me in there). He thought back to all of the training he had experienced in the room, he was slightly traumatized, but that's what his grandfather did anyways, give him more trauma in exchange for strength. The concentration of energy held exponentially leaped and the extra muscle was an obvious plus. Apollo thought back to what Hiroto said ("Your soul has something akin to a shell, breaking away layers of that connects your physical body to it, making your connection to your soul that much stronger. The first layer is probably the most dramatic because you're not used to being that connected to being a spiritual lifeform.)
Apollo thought (Being like a spiritual lifeform…). He still slightly wondered what that meant for him, but what he did know is that if one is more connected to their soul then their progress skyrockets, like the multiplier on an exponential equation increasing massively. Hiroto did tell him to wait here, he didn't know for how long, to meet someone he hadn't seen in a long time. So he waited and waited until he saw something in the horizon (I don't sense any presence from that, who is it?) and then his eyes focused ,"HOLY SHIT MAN I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER!!!" Devan was walking up with a smile ,"What's up man." Apollo jumped down from his perch to dap up his friend CLAP ,"How you doin?" ,"Good man, how about you?" ,"Not bad." Devan, although not having been in the military, was strong ,"You been training?" ,"Maybe with that old geezer." Hiroto was standing at the entrance to the dojo, smiling ,"My protege, welcome back.
Apollo was a little confused ,"Protege?" Hiroto replied ,"What you don't know is that I've been training him in secret for the past few years you've been gone on your own and when you were in the military. I knew it'd be a waste to let someone so strong become weak so I decided to take him under my wing as to not lose out on that potential." Apollo looked at Devan, he nodded ,"It was kind of against my will but that's alright, I'm here alright." Apollo thought (Against his will?!?) ,"Grandpa, did you reall-" ,"Doesn't matter." He cut off his question before he even had a chance to ask. ,"So, Apollo, are you ready for your final test?" Apollo instinctively knew what this test would be ,"I'm fighting him, right?" Hiroto nodded with his usual evil grin.
They walked back into the pocket dimension, Hiroto opened a door, revealing a room that seemingly stretched on forever, in fact, he believed it did. The stark white room with the marble like floor was insane to Apollo (How does anyone "Make" one of these?). They walked out into the room and broke off in two directions, Apollo and Devan faced each other ,"Hajime." Devan and Apollo bolted at each other, Devan popped something into existence just like Apollo summoned Akarui. Devan's boom box had evolved into an assimilation weapon. KABOOM They both clashed their weapons, Apollo was stunned (How had he unlocked one too?). Devan pressed the play button, the boom box screamed the lyrics of a song ,"OK!!!" Apollo blocked the strikes BOOM BOOM BOOM.
Apollo was smiling, Devan was strong, and not just that, his attacks were explosive. Devan swung his boom box from side to side and then raised it up into the air. Apollo felt a vibration ring out through his body, as if the sound of the song was harmonizing with the energy that he had. BOOM KABOOM KABOOM This was Devan's Wave Resonance, he dealt massive damage by synchronizing the energy waves of his opponent with the sound waves he emitted, with the added benefit that if he attacked on beat, he would massively increase the damage of the attack. One of the most interesting things about his ability was that the slower the song was, the stronger the attack because of the increased difficulty of attacking on time. Apollo walked forwards TINK TINK SLASH, he deflected the weapon and slashed at Devan, Devan smiled, Apollo had only grazed his clothes. Devan dropped to the ground after dodging the blade and kicked up in the air BOOM, following up with a spinning hook kick BOOM. Devan jumped up in the air and hit three kicks on Apollo, one headshot, one bodyshot and one thigh shot BOOM BOOM BOOM. Apollo summoned a Water Sword from below that stabbed Devan's back, then Apollo slashed at him SLASH SLASH SLASH. He had cut Devan's stomach, shoulder and face. Devan said ,"You wanna go crazy?" Apollo smiled even wider ,"WHY NOT!!!"
