"Enough of this!" Both of Neresa's hands blurred. Mana poured into her body and wrapped around her in a radiant armor of blinding light.
"I'll kill you all!"
She raised her hand and a beam of pure energy surged towards them.
Lyanna and Sirius moved in sync. Their gazes met in the air, and the world answered. Ice and wind burst forward and met the beam mid flight.
The collision blew the hill apart. Dust and shockwaves tore through the area.
'We failed to buy time.'
Lyanna shot out of the haze, rising high into the air.
They were outnumbered four to two. In a battle of paragons, it was dangerous. Their plan had been to buy time until Nathan arrived, but they'd been forced to fight.
'She's coming.'
Neresa burst out of the smoke in a streak of light. She thrust her spear with so much force the air itself whipped into a spiral.
