Chapter 2 - Chapter One: Welcome to the World of Merkreig!

It is the first day of the month Equinox. Winter is upon me. The air is ridden with cold and the night creatures located to the west have began to move, I might not make it back like I promised I would, but if your reading this mother, father, john and louis. I've found it. The entrance to our Gods Shrine and consequential tomb. If I do not return with the next turning of the sun, and the moon blazes green as usual, you will know that I have failed in my task to bring our village the solace it deserves.

I leave Mother with My Dagger for safe keeping, I know how much you enjoy the art of music, maybe it will bring you some well needed protection on your outings to the Local Taverns you frequent despite my requests not to. With it you can paralyse anyone previously cut with the dagger by saying the words "Levtol Emya Locar".

Father, I leave you the riches I have amassed thus far, if you search in the northern quadrant of the Jermia Wood there is an abandoned ruin that holds a hidden vault, the vault can be opened if you use the water from our waterfall and pour it over the statue of a loyal hound. Avoid the other statues, they are for intruders.

John, my eldest brother. I leave you with my mirror, it has long since lost its ability for instantaneous travel, but should you need to glimpse a far away location it will be open to you. Offer your blood to the rune crystal at its praecipes and it will belong to you.

Louis, I have long since missed your company, and wish for your upbringing to be filled with laughter and joy, my death will hit you harder than most and because of this, I leave you my Bow, my most prized possession, it has an active skill imbued within, activate the skill my speaking the incantation "Hermius Column Nadya Azur" It will enchant whatever arrow released with a Rune of Truth Seeking. Aim true and your arrows will never miss their mark. Protect them. Family, I love you, always. May Shasheik curse the ground of your foes. Avaros."

My hand held a slightly burnt piece of parchment, its contents a letter of farewell to my family in the elven kingdom, my heart sang for them some time ago, knowing my next venture may very well be my last, this letter was inevitable, and so I shall send it home along with the gifts entailed.

Attaching the letter to a dagger and a bow along with a key and a token i chanted the incantation of Truth Seeking while reaching for an arrow from the quiver on my back.

"Hermius Column Nadya Azur" I spoke calmly as the arrow began to glow and a rune shaped like two axes clashing with a bird in the center appeared on the arrow tip. I carefully wrapped the parchment into a container and attached it to the arrow and all the items evaporated into particles of light and flew inside the container. I held the arrow in the palm of my right hand and took careful aim.

"Arch your back, Aim True, Steady yourself and steadfast you fly. Find your true target: Elven Kingdom of Lustria, Glarus district-

Home."

As the words left my mouth I felt a pull from the arrow in the direction I had my arm aimed to, and with that my strength and finesse were pounded into the fibres of air around me as a resounding BOOM! cracked the sky and a single line through the clouds appeared, the arrow nowhere to be seen.

"The parchment used a few moments ago is called an Elven Engram. Where I come from, they are widely used due to their encrypted nature, not allowing even magics that tamper with technology to breach its contents, the items mentioned in the parchment dissolve and are absorbed by the engram, and later when they are delivered to the people mentioned and intended for they release its contents safely. A marvel of our great elven kingdom." My inner monologue has always been a constant, an indication of my nature to be alone in my solitude, doing great deeds from the shadows, just like now. The Shrine of Shasheik.

I beheld my breath, glancing off into the distance, staring blankly at the parting of clouds I had caused. Power was once alluring, but now I have reached the top, I find myself unsatisfied. That is why I am here.

I turn to face the arch entrance to the great shrine of the god of plague and decay. Its runic letters etched unto the frame and pillars holding up the entrance to the cave.

I seek power, or knowledge, but enlightenment would be welcome too. I chuckle to myself, my continued uncertainty throughout my journey has brought me many smiles, and many frowns, but at last my indecisive nature is put to rest.

I take my first step towards my fate, and the dark gloomy cave entrance embraces my light as I embrace, the darkness.
