While reminiscing does bring him happiness, Adam doesn't want to rely on it as a source of happiness.
He did that before regressing; he was never happy and lived his life like a routine, performing the same task over and over again, with no friends to hang out with and no life partner to return to.
The only time he felt happy was when he reminisced about the good times he had.
Adam doesn't want to fall back into that same routine again; that's why he is trying to pick up different hobbies so that he never falls into a robot-like routine of nothingness again.
Adam opens the restaurant right on time, and soon customers start pouring in. Leila and Cassie also arrive and quickly change into their uniforms to join Adam and help him around.
During the morning service, Adam notices that Leila and Cassie are much more chatty than usual. On top of that, Leila hasn't been hovering around him like she used to, clearly not wanting him to hear the conversations they are having.
