Miguel takes his grandmother back home after the event and while on the elevator leaving the hospital "Abue, what happened to your friend?", she looked sad but at her age, she had seen many people around her die "about 4 or 5 years ago a lot of people got sick and fell into a coma, they call it Overflow syndrome; we were lucky to not have any in our family like that, but others were not" the elevator doors opened and they left together.
After Miguel took his grandmother home, he went home as well to an apartment he shared with his friend, when he got there it was empty and he went straight to his room. When he entered his room, he shut the door and thought about what had happened, Miguel was worried that he had absorbed a soul. Since he did not know what that meant he was worried that he had done something horrible to that family and felt guilty. Miguel thought about the first message and thought about what it meant that a talent menu was created, before he could finish his thought a menu screen showed itself in front of him. He was very confused but all he knew so far was that he was the only person that could see this menu since no one in the hospital noticed it other than him.
The Menu:
Name: Miguel
Profession: Necromancer
Skills:
o Soul reaping: "The Dead can leave a portion of their soul behind; with this skill, you can collect them." (The portion left behind is only excess power, which is why not all deaths leave souls behind and some may be stronger than others may)
o Soul storage: 1/100 weak souls "a space in another dimension where you can keep souls."
o Undead summon: "From the remains of the dead you can place a soul into it and reanimate it, the undead will then serve you" (exceptional undead may develop higher intelligence) (Undead summons take on the appearance of the corpse and the damage, is healed)
o Undead servants: 0/10 "When not needed they sleep in another dimension where your undead await your summon, the dimension can heal the summons gradually when wounded"
"What the hell is this, ill be put in jail if I try to use these skills" Miguel worried that the skills he has might get him in trouble, decides to at least look up information on the internet about the profession. While looking online he notices that although there have been people to report having the profession but no other information: some online publications showed that typically necromancers would join parties to enter a dungeon and would not do anything. Miguel thought that even though he has one weak soul now, it was just an accident; it made sense that normally a necromancer would not be of any help and might not want to show his skills to the party. As he kept reading, he noticed an article about a necromancer that dungeon parties would not accept, so he decided to give up on exploring dungeons.
"This profession sucks" Miguel looked gloomy "To get started you need a soul and remains… I am not grave digging" Miguel looks at the menu again, when he hears tires screeching outside his window. Miguel looks down from his window and notices that a car has run over a dog and takes off quickly; he looks at the menu again and reads it again "It doesn't say it has to be human remains". He runs out of his room quickly and goes to the dog; it was a large black, brown, and white dog that was whimpering on the edge of the street next to the curb where its body had been thrown by the impact. Miguel arrives and sees the dog with labored breathing and whimpering, he takes a seat on the curb and pets the dog "Hey buddy, I'm sorry this happened to you", he kept on stroking the dog's fur until he felt that there was no more movement.
The death of the dog saddened him so he took a moment before he said in a whisper "Soul", in Miguel's hands he could see an orb of dim blue light; he placed it on the body "summon", with the two ingredients supplied the soul entered the body, after a moment its shadow got darker and bigger and out of it came out an identical dog that didn't seem to have any movements other than those needed to keep it standing with its attention fixed onto Miguel. Although Miguel was still saddened by the dog dying he felt glad when he noticed that the body was still there, this meant that he wouldn't be defiling the bodies of what he summons. Miguel pets his new companion but it does not react, it only stares blankly at Miguel. "I'm sorry buddy but no pets allowed in my apartment, I'll call for you when I need you, for now, head into storage" The dog clearly understanding its master's commands immediately laid down on the ground and then fades into darkness, becoming one with its shadow and then disappearing altogether.
Miguel heads into his apartment quickly, once in his bedroom "Alright come on out now" The servant comes out and immediately sits in front of his master. He looks at the dog when suddenly a screen pops up that says "servant level 1", this surprised Miguel "Wow this menu is really convenient, and this guy looks like a normal dog" As he observes the dog he pets it "You don't move much do you, ill go ahead and call you Rocky from now on" out of nowhere a screen pops up
"acquired skill: Name granting (gives a servant a name, granting them the ability to grow stronger along with the master)"
suddenly Miguel gets a fierce headache, his peripheral vision starts to become darker and he loses his balance falling to the ground.
