Amelia PoV
The last of the weapons were placed, the battle lines were drawn, and the valley had been fortified as best as we could manage.
I walked over to Eizan. "Have a moment?" I asked.
He raised an eyebrow at me. "What do you need?"
"Your mother. What happened to het and the others?"
He sighed. "I dove into their hearts like I did with Wolfgango. We managed to free them from the darkness, but they haven't awakened from the coma."
My heart sank. I had a bad feeling this was the end for them. They had died in the first place. With the power of Reginald severed, the technique keeping them alive must've come undone.
"We won't know if they will ever wake up," he said with a heavy heart. "But their vitals are stable, if barely."
I reached out and gave his arm a pat. "You did the best you could. No one can blame you for this."
He let out a low chuckle. "I wished I could have spoken more with Mother, like how Vadim and Kazuo spoke with their fathers."
