I frowned. "Overwhelm you? You have been holding them at bay, though."
His smirk turned wry. "Only for a bit. Once the dog howls, I won't have the strength to keep it up."
I gulped. Then did we have no choice but to put an end to him and the others?
"You always were too soft, Kazuo. Even now." He let out a low chuckle that rumbled like distant thunder. "But perhaps… that softness is what this broken kingdom needs more than another weapon."
My hands kept shaking. I couldn't bring myself to end him. But he might take that as weakness.
He put a hand over his heart. "This energy reanimating us, it is reminiscent of plant mana, but more primordial, as if the essence of chaos is powering it."
Plant mana? Amelia and Leonardo have both mentioned how Reginald could use vines and thorns. Was there something similar between Abyssal power and that? Was that how Father had managed to retain himself longer?
