Once the pasta was well mixed, I served up generous portions onto our plates, adding a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top. "Lunch is served!" I announced, placing the plates on the dining table right in the kitchen.
Anis hopped down from her stool, her eyes gleaming as she clambered into her seat. "I'm so hungry!" she said, practically bouncing in her chair.
Just as I finished serving Rose's plate, she wandered into the kitchen with a sleepy smile. "What's going on in here? It smells incredible!" she said, taking in the sight of our colorful meal.
"Homemade fettuccine with a veggie sauce, made with help from our little chef!" I said proudly.
Anis beamed. "I helped stir the sauce, Mama!"
Rose knelt down to Anis's level. "You did a fantastic job, sweetheart. This looks amazing!"
As we gathered around the kitchen table, I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. My family was my everything, and sharing these simple meals together was what made life so rich.
