I smiled as Anis tried on a small pink coat. Saffron and I had taken our little penguin to the department store in Momotaro to get a coat. Dahlia offered to make one, but she also was busy helping cater for the meeting at the castle.
"Look, Mama! Pink pengui wings!" Anis chirped, holding her arms straight out at her sides and giving an energetic little hop.
The coat was thick wool, dyed a soft dusty pink with polished pearl buttons running down the front. The sleeves swallowed her tiny hands almost entirely, the cuffs brushing well past her knuckles, but she didn't seem to mind in the slightest. She waddled two steps toward the three-way mirror in the children's boutique, tilting her head to admire her reflection before tucking her plush penguin tightly under her arm.
