Chapter 206: The Morning Wisdom
Morning sunlight slipped through the bedroom curtains, painting golden stripes across the rumpled bedsheets. The dowry boxes were still scattered where I'd left them last night.
I lay there for a long moment, staring at the ceiling. Last night felt like a dream. A nightmare. A fever dream where I'd grown a spine and used it.
Did I really confront Lilith? Did I really take back what was mine?
I turned my head. The boxes were still there. The gifts Dafa had chosen was folded neatly on my dresser. It was real. All of it.
I sat up slowly, my muscles complaining. My body remembered the tension even if my mind was trying to forget. The mirror across the room caught my reflection: tired eyes, tangled hair, the face of someone who'd fought a battle and wasn't sure if she'd won or just survived.
Get up, I told myself. You can't hide in here forever.
