Dafa's POV: Interrogation
I closed the notebook.
For a long moment, I didn't say anything. Neither did anyone else. The hum of equipment filled the space where words should've been, thin and electric.
"This wasn't revenge as we thought," I said at last.
Captain Rien shook his head slowly. "Yeah, This wasn't ambition either. But it's coercion."
Worse than that.
"The real culprits didn't just threaten him. They rewired his choices and actions by making his child the countdown."
The words stayed in the air, heavy and ugly.
"He probably didn't build this because he wanted to, but he built it because stopping meant watching his daughter die," Captain Rien added.
I turned back to the room, seeing it differently now. The precision. The obsession. The way every note tried to anticipate failure, compensate for it, outrun it.
"But still, we have to investigate him first. Get a lock on him," I said. "Now."
