The next morning dawned with a deceptive serenity. Sunlight streamed through my bedroom window, painting the walls with a warm, golden glow. Birds chirped merrily outside, their songs a stark contrast to the turmoil that still churned within me.
I lay in bed for a long moment, staring up at the ceiling, replaying the conversation with Lilith in my mind. Her words echoed in my head, a haunting melody of disillusionment and despair. I knew that I couldn't simply dismiss her pain, even if she refused to acknowledge the part she played in creating it.
With a sigh, I pushed back the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed. The floor was cold beneath my feet, a bracing reminder of the reality that awaited me outside the sanctuary of my room.
