Dafa's POV: Inconvenient Truth Settled in My Gut
I went to the office.
The news of my upcoming marriage had apparently traveled faster than any official memo. Thanks to one of the admin girls who couldn't keep a secret longer than a breath. By the time I stepped into the hallway, a few of my colleagues were already grinning like children who'd found a new toy.
"Dafa's getting married?"
"Who's the lucky girl?"
"Finally, ice man melts!"
I kept walking, face unreadable. "Focus on your duties," I said, and the edge in my voice wiped the smiles off fast. But even as the corridor straightened itself out, the strangeness settled deeper in me.
Marriage.
My marriage.
I wasn't the type who discussed relationships, let alone entertained questions about them. Most of my colleagues had never seen me with anyone. And they were right to wonder.
There was one woman years ago.
Not Alayna.
Someone else.
