Tap, tap, tap…
Nicole led the beast-eared girls into the dinosaur museum. Just inside the main entrance was a large screen wall, with lines directing traffic: "Exit Left, Enter Right."
"This way," Nicole said, following the signs. The moment they stepped inside, they froze.
"This..." Freya, Helen, Ayesha, Hazel, Gaba, Amelia, Dahlia, and Annie were all completely dumbstruck.
"Whoa! Is that a dinosaur?" Ayesha's purple eyes went wide as she stared at the long, sharp teeth.
"Sister Helen, that's terrifying," Hazel whimpered, hiding behind the rabbit-eared girl and peeking out at the enormous fossil.
"This... this is a dragon?" Dahlia covered her mouth, utterly stunned. She had assumed dragons were just myths.
"'Tyrannosaurus Rex Fossil. One of the hegemons from at least sixty million years ago. Body length: eleven meters. Head height: six meters. Carnivorous...'" Freya read aloud from the stone tablet in front of the skeleton.
The T-Rex fossil was suspended by iron chains and supported by a steel frame. Its six-meter-high skull loomed over them, its sharp teeth inspiring a chilling fear.
Annie gripped Freya's hand tightly. The moment she looked up at the T-Rex, she yelped in fright. This was far more intimidating than the Triceratops fossil in the pit.
"A Tyrannosaurus Rex..." Amelia stared blankly at the massive skull, her mind flashing to her Big Sister. If the 'Dragon' from that mission was one of these, then failure was to be expected. It wasn't something that could be beaten by human strength.
She started to worry. Knowing her sister's stubbornness, failing once would only make her challenge it again and again until she won. "How can I convince her...?" Amelia whispered to herself. Big Sister should be here soon, right?
"I have to draw this." After her initial shock, Camilla immediately took out her notebook and began sketching furiously. She could bring this back to show her father, to broaden his horizons.
"Phew..." Gaba exhaled slowly. She was thinking she had to find time to bring Emma here. This was just too stunning. She glanced at Camilla's notebook and saw the extremely distorted T-Rex she was drawing. Gaba's eye twitched. Is that supposed to be a T-Rex? It looks more like a snake with legs.
"Thank goodness these things lived sixty million years ago. If they were still alive, we'd all be dead," Annie sighed, finally letting go of Freya's hand and wiping her forehead.
Tap, tap, tap...
"Gods! Dragons are real?!" Kevin cried out, staring in awe at the T-Rex fossil.
"It's... it's actually real? How is that possible?" Raymond was incredulous. He had used his status to bully a merchant in line to give up his spot, just so he could get in faster.
"This... this isn't real, is it?" Patrick gasped, covering his mouth, his eyes practically bulging. He had seen Raymond, Scott, and Kevin all go in, so he'd bought a ticket to follow, never expecting to see something this mind-blowing.
"Are you from the countryside? Making such a fuss," Scott sneered, his eyes full of contempt. His legs, however, were shaking. He was just putting on a calm front to mock the others; in reality, he was just as stunned. He hadn't expected all four of them to end up in the same spot. Scott would never pass up such a perfect opportunity to be condescending.
"Tsk... By that logic, Viscount Kevin must be from the countryside, too," Patrick retorted, trying to drive a wedge between them.
Kevin's face darkened. How did I get dragged into this? He shot Scott an annoyed look, since he had been the one shouting in surprise just a moment ago.
"Hm?" Annie turned, spotting the four nobles bickering two meters away. Her brown eyes darted around. She took a deep breath, building up her emotions.
"Aaaah! A pervert!!" Annie shrieked, her brown eyes instantly filling with tears. She stumbled backward, clutching her chest as she stared in terror at Scott, Kevin, Raymond, and Patrick.
"Uh..." Nicole, Helen, Freya, Dahlia, and the others all froze, staring blankly at Annie's crude acting. Isn't that... a little over the top?
"Hey, I always heard Viscount Scott and Viscount Kevin had bad reputations, but I never thought they'd be this brazen!"
"And Viscount Raymond and Viscount Patrick, too! Just as I thought, birds of a feather flock together... What scum."
"They're a disgrace to the nobility! Disgusting!"
The crowd, however, wasn't interested in the details. They would never pass up a chance to kick someone while they were down.
"What?!" Scott, Kevin, Raymond, and Patrick were all completely dumbfounded. We're two meters away! We couldn't touch her even if we tried! How are we perverts? They were just bickering amongst themselves! What did that have to do with being perverts? Were they accused of perving on the T-Rex?!
The four nobles were stunned, but Freya (wolf-eared), Ayesha (ox-horned), and Gaba (bear-eared), who were in on the plan, reacted instantly, surrounding the four men.
"On the ground, now!" Ayesha barked, her purple eyes flashing with ill intent. She strode toward them, cracking her knuckles.
Freya also closed in, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword, looking one wrong word away from drawing it. This terrified the four nobles. Everyone knew how fierce the wolf-kin were; they were scared to death of being run through.
"Don't move." Gaba's tall, imposing figure radiated pressure. Her brown eyes shone with an eager light, as if she was hoping they'd resist so she could have the satisfaction of beating them senseless.
"You...! I demand to see your City Lord!" Kevin shrieked, his voice cracking. He really didn't want to go back into that gloomy little cell.
"Tsk... Pathetic." Raymond sneered, disdainfully eyeing the beastkin. He didn't believe they'd actually dare to hit him. The worst they'd do was lock them up for a few days.
"What a disgrace," Patrick muttered, his face dark. He thought the same as Raymond. He was annoyed, but not stupid enough to resist.
"Is that so? I hope you two are still this confident in a few days," Scott said. His face was pale, and his legs were already starting to feel weak.
"Take them away." Ayesha wasn't interested in their chatter. She had the on-duty soldiers seize the four of them and haul them off to the city guard station.
"Heehee..." Dahlia giggled, covering her mouth as she watched the four men being dragged away, feeling extremely cheerful.
"Annie, you're terrible. That was the most obvious frame-up ever," Nicole chided, amused. "Who accuses someone of groping them from two meters away?"
"Hmph!" Annie said, tilting her chin up proudly. She couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing. "Heehee... The master taught me that!"
"Phew..." Freya let out a visible sigh of relief when she heard that. Thank goodness. Her Highness... she hasn't changed too much...
